The woman thought to have the most direct knowledge of Jeffrey Epstein’s decades-long sex-trafficking operation claims there was no client list, no blackmail scheme and – to her knowledge – no high-profile Epstein associates who committed illicit acts in connection with the notorious sex-offender’s crimes.

That’s according to an account provided by Epstein’s convicted co-conspirator Ghislaine Maxwell to a top official of the U.S. Department of Justice during a highly unusual two-day interview session last month, according to a transcript and audio of the conversation released Friday by the DOJ.

After her interviews with the DoJ, Maxwell was moved to a Club Fed prison where all inmates are eligible for work release during their detention. The fact that she gave no incriminating evidence about Epstein associates, when it is plainly obvious to everyone that she has such evidence, shows that she was not rewarded for cooperating with the investigation, but for obstructing it.

I mean, the presumption was Ghislaine would come out and name a bunch of Democrats to deflect blame.

But it looks like she’s going with the “We were all innocent, nobody did anything, this was a witch hunt by those mean liberal prosecutors” gambit. And it looks like something everyone is willing to play ball. Democrats have clammed up. Republicans are happy to sweep her prosecution under the rug and let her out on “work release” indefinitely.

Democrats don’t really seem like they have clammed up. I still see them bringing this up whenever they can, and they look like they are ready to go once Congress is back in session.

and they look like they are ready to go once Congress is back in session.

Epstein was arrested for this way back in 2019 and she was arrested in 2020. What makes you think they’re now “ready to go” at some future date when they could have done this at any point in the last half decade?

Have you not been paying attention? They were forcing subpoenas through Congress so Johnson sent everyone home early, they are back in session soon. There’s enough Republicans willing to help that its an actual problem for GOP leadership. Its a very obvious wedge issue now, please read the news more if you don’t understand the current political context.

For someone so smug about “understanding the current political context,” you sure seem quite naive and gullible about believing politicians when they pledge to take action but only at some indeterminate future date.

They haven’t done anything about it at any point in the last five years, but “this time it’s different” and when do they plan on doing something? “soon”

              🙄

Sorry if I came across as smug, I am more bewildered. They have already taken action in Congress, more action can’t happen until Congress is back in session. Instead of relying on your cynicism you could inform yourself and make substantive criticisms that actually land.

                  Oh, let me explain.

They’re desperate to spread the idea that both sides are the same. It’s happening a lot here.

They know they can’t get Lemmy to support Republicans. But they think they can suppress the vote for Dems, and that’s good enough.

They’re “doing sonething” in the same way that George Costanza would look like he’s “doing something” at work by walking around with a fast pace looking annoyed. I want results not some bullshit grandstanding that always, 100% of the time, leads to absolutely nothing in the end. I’m sick of the false promises. I’m sick of the excuses. They’ve been sitting on this since before COVID existed and now we’re told once again to wait and be patient six years later because soon something will come of it. How the fuck people can still believe this obvious pile of bullshit is beyond me. This is quite literally the exact same tactic Trump used when claiming he had mountains of evidence that the 2020 election was rigged and that it would all be released soon except now its a bunch of Democratic sycophants falling for it.

Yeah, and? You’re seriously trying to argue that the culmination of all their effort over five years after this woman was arrested is that a single House session ended a few days early? What the kind of nonsense is that?

Lifelong appointment federal judges sealed the Epstein case files immediately following the trials, supposedly to protect victims, the time limit of which ran out in 2025.

To overrule the federal judges would take no less than a constitutional amendment.

I think current events demonstrate quite clearly that it doesn’t really matter what a single federal judge thinks, but you go ahead and keep finding excuses why high profile pedophiles like our president continue to walk free after all this time.

Federal judges brought back a deportee from another country, rehired the forestry services, will probably reverse more and more Trump decisions as time goes on.

It’s certainly true that Trump is trying to overturn rule of law and assign himself as despot, but did you really expect that behavior from the Biden admin?

You know what, I took your previous claim about these case documents being sealed at face value, but thus far, all I can find that was sealed was the grand jury testimony from Maxwell’s case. What specifically are you referring to because the FBI and DOJ’s investigative documents aren’t sealed they’re just not being released by this or the prior administration.

Even if your claim does turn out to actually be true, are you really arguing that an administration influencing a judge to unseal documents relating to a high-profile pedophile ring of people working in the highest levels of government is “overturning the rule of law and assigning [one]self as despot?” That’s absolutely ridiculous.

This argument has the same energy as “we have to support Israel because they’re our ally in the region.” There’s always some flimsy excuse or justification for why “it’s okay for us to do terrible things because look at how bad those other guys are!”

Where are all those early MAGAs, the Q Anon- inspired followers for whom it was all about exposing Child Sex Trafficking, and somehow they convinced themselves that Trump was the guy to lead that fight?

Now that he’s obviously a leader in it, why aren’t we hearing from them?

If nothing happened then there’s no harm in releasing those Epstein files. Let’s see them, just to put everything to rest.

(Assuming this is not a psy-op where she says nothing happens, giving time for them to release an AI-generated version of the files that confirms what she said—or some other shady thing they could do…)

My understanding is that there are two kinds of dashes. We’ll call one a regular dash and the other em-dash. The only difference is length. Normal typing generally results in regular dashes. A bunch of em-dashes is likely due to something puting in the extra effort to make those dashes long. If a document is filled with them, it’s likely ai generated.

There’s the hyphen (-), the En-dash, the width of an uppercase N, in the font (–), and the Em-dash, the width of the uppercase M, in the font (—). Most typesetters don’t use with the En-dash, as it’s virtually indistinguishable from the hyphen in body type.
