Can you consider it a distraction from the bill if that very bill is the biggest thing they’re fighting about?

Don’t forget about defunding rural hospitals.

Hospital income is 30-60% Medicare & Medicaid. Urban leans towards 30%. Rural and critical access lean heavily to the 60% side of things.

As such, the expectation should be cuts in medical service availability.

The biggest loss leader in the medical hospital line up is mother/baby & NICU. This is why not every hospital has these services. Or why a corporate chain in an area has 1 between their hospitals. The expectation here needs to be that less mother/baby services will be available going forward.

Don’t think for one second that hospitals cannot shut down.

I hope rural people like home births. That’s how my mom’s great aunt died: in the farm house living room with a stalled labor in the dead of winter. Her oldest son had to drop out of middle school to help raise his 10 siblings until he got drafted into WW2. My mom was only born in a hospital because her mom was going into kidney failure before her due date. Her next child was deprived of oxygen at birth, and since the nearest NICU was hours away he has severe intellectual disabilities and has been a ward of the state for decades. He was physically abused by paid family caretakers while waiting for a facility with an opening to accept him.

Rural hospitals? Well, are they Christian? And are you a Christian? If so, you’re all set. If not, what’s wrong with you, Jeebus will provide after all!

The Heritage Foundation Christofascist types want to see all “public” services transitioned to non-governmental (in claim, if not in fact) Christian “charity” orgs. Preferably white-controlled, evangelical ones of course. If you’re a person with medical needs, really bad ones, and can’t get medical help, then why haven’t you signed on the line and pledged your vote, tithes, and soul to Jeebus? That’s the MAGA Jeebus mind you, not that old-fashioned Socialist one. MAGA wants these rural hospitals to go out of business. That will provide them with millions of new, suffering, desperate people and a situation where MAGA can blame their suffering on the “mismanagement” and “inefficiency” of the government-supported hospitals, now defunct, and will provide their Christofascist friends with a fire-sale on facilities and medical specialists with which to start their Xian “charity” services.

You the individual will either do as you’re told by MAGA in government (because they’re terrorist thugs) or by MAGA in “churches” (because they’ll (maybe) provide some kind of “charity” aid that’s no longer available elsewhere), or you’ll die. Either way, MAGA wins.

The Senate just doubled the funding for rural hospitals from $25B to $50B because they want to make sure they “hurt the right people” and not their mouth breathing base.

Underscores the fact that “deportation” is just a political tool to punish the people that Trump doesn’t like.

This should illustrated to every single military and law enforcement person that trump does not care about you. Even his most trusted allies are fodder for him

You law enforcement guys are the same as the rest of those he oppresses. Remember you oath and remember trump will hurt anyone he wants with no thought

IMO the orange fart ain’t got allies. Having allies requires empathy. He has people he can use, people he used and people he will attempt in using given a chance. It’s not alliance but utilization.

Yes, but you know how consolidating power works. When Trump starts deporting his own enablers it’s the next level in the playbook.

There isn’t a happy ending, if you’re holding out for one. Save us our little fleeting joys while we’re still free from the shock collars and whips for another few years.
