Is posting screenshots of AI slop really in the spirit of this community? Not only was it a waste of resources to facilitate that screenshot, but even more resources were wasted federating it out to lord knows how many instances each with a local copy of the thumbnail.

I feel like saturating and making these AI companies unprofitable is the best way to stop this use of LLM.

They already are unprofitable. OpenAI is the biggest player in the industry and they spend roughly $2.25 for every dollar they make. That’s why they’re looking for fucking $40B in funding, more than the GDP of Estonia.

Check out the “Where’s your Ed at” blog. They have a lot of coverage of the financial unsustainability of the AI industry.

All you’re doing with this sort of thing is giving them another positive point on their usage numbers.

Thanks I’ll check out the blog! But honestly, not convinced sorry. I don’t think the wait and see approach is useful (after 25 year of internet we still don’t have clear worldwide rules about it).

You can manufacture users, usage, statistics if you really want, and slowly infiltrate every app. You can lose money (to a certain point) if you get something back, not if users start going crazy with your toys.

My point is that this feels a lot like early internet age where everything is free and the bill is due in 10 years.

          I can see I’m a minority tho 😔
