Dr. Anthony Fauci, who led the U.S. response to the Covid-19 pandemic, privately complained about President Donald Trump’s ramblings — and compared him to an “obnoxious adolescent” — in personal diary entries released this weekend.

More than a thousand pages of Fauci’s journal were released by Sen. Rand Paul, who heads the Senate Homeland Security Committee. As part of an investigation into the origins of Covid-19, Paul has called on Fauci to testify on the pandemic before the committee Wednesday. The Kentucky Republican has long peddled the theory that the virus came from a leak at a lab in Wuhan, China, accusing Fauci and other government officials of misleading the public about its source — claims Fauci has denied.

can’t get the full Epstein files required by law, but we can get 1,000 pages of a doctor’s personal journals because one deranged senator has a theory

Paul might be the stupidest son of a bitch on the planet if he actually thought leaking these was somehow going to validate his conspiracy theory quest.

You don’t need a diary to know that, there’s plenty of video evidence where he’s obviously sick of all the bullshit. Totally had the “how am I the only educated person in this room?” vibe toward the end.

I think the entire world, minus braindead conservatives, are annoyed by obnoxious adolescent Trump.

In conservative circles they’re talking about the diary as if it’s a smoking gun exposing Fauci as some kind of manipulator who covered up the lab origin conspiracy.

Yeah, nothing about the reasons why that conspiracy theory was not only unsupported by facts, but contradicted by the evidence. There are measurable differences between lab-grown viruses and those in a human or animal host population.

But MAGAdiots hate science, so there’s no point attempting to reason with them. You can’t convince them, all you can do is drive them from office.

Chinese wet markets trapped wild animals from hundreds of kilometers away and kept them on cages shitting on each other. In the wild, these animals would have no contact. This is exactly how SARs started in 2003 and it’s how the next pandemic will start in 5-8 years because nothing has been done to change this behavior in China.

Any virologist can tell you propagation of virus in lab cultures attenuates them, even HIV.

If SARS/cov2 was lab made, there would be restriction enzyme sequence scars in the genome sequence. This was the first thing everyone looked for when the genome sequence was made available.

I knew Tony Fauci in the 90s. Watching him bury his face on live TV when Trump said something stupid was surreal.

The response to Fauci’s efforts really changed my perspective as a scientist in helping and educating society.
