it’s a lot easier than most people think, to obtain a rabidly fanatic cult following–especially composed of young people. all you have to do is tell people their life is completely shitty, even if it’s not really shitty, or even if their life is objectively great. then you blame every single problem in the world (feel free to invent problems that don’t actually exist) on “other,” anyone who’s non-white, non-male, non-christian, non-republican, etc.

it’s important to remember that there’s no need for evidence, facts, logic, or any kind of support for any of these claims, because any information that doesn’t come directly from the cult leader is suspect or even “fake news.” see: antivaxxers

congrats, your cult is now ready to lick the shit directly from the boots you’re stomping them with

After listening to numerous dollop episodes on cults, it’s always boils down to some very deep sexual perversions in every case

Unlimited funding from billionaires helps a lot, too.

He’s considered a founder of TPUSA, but he was just a blowhard with a tiny face who could be a good mouthpiece for the worst people on earth.

People sure do love getting grifted. You just have to make sure the relationship involves exchanging currency for “good feels”.

Why’d they use the weird edited photo that stretches out his facial features to cover the front of his head? Thought there were rules (or guidelines, at the very least) in journalism about that sort of thing.

I don’t condone his shooting but I was listening to the audio of what happened. Literally right before the shooting he engaged in a bad faith argument: when asked if he knew the number of trans mass shooters over the last decade, his response was “too many”. At face value, that’s obviously defense-able; any mass shooting is too many. But he doesn’t use it like that. That statement is used as a sword to defend his opinions on trans people and how dangerous they are.

And that’s precisely why he and MAGA in general was/are dangerous; they seize on those little truths and wield them like hammers to bash wide groups of individuals. Kirk was not a debater like he always claimed; he was a master at building a straw man and convincing others of its stability.

He didn’t deserve to be shot but he sure as shit didn’t deserve the attention he got.

I think he deserved it. When you make a career of knowingly manipulating people to embrace the hate and violence against innocents, you’re a threat into society and deserve to be removed.

The only thing I don’t like is that his kids were there.

I won’t speak for OP, but I would prefer it if we lived in a world where no one got shot. Violence should never be desirable, but it is sometimes necessary. I think that’s an important distinction to make.

Having said that, Charlie got exactly what was coming to him. Rest in piss, you clown.

I mean this is exactly it. This is not the way I want the country to go.

But I’m also not surprised it went this way in Kirk’s case.

Exactly. I completely agree with you. I also feel like those who act shocked by this are arguing in bad faith.
