My gods I can’t begin to imagine the sheer mental anguish these poor folks are going through after waiting for so long for their surgeries, being so hopeful, just to have it all ripped away from them at the last second. the entire labour party is transphobic, why would they not pursue their own ideological goals. It was literally(?) the first day of the labour administration that they banned puberty blockers for trans children. This IS their ideology. It is not to win over voters. It’s what THEY WANT.
Why join labor instead of the conservative party if they’re transphobic and pro-austerity? Isn’t that Reform’s whole thing?

It has worked for conservatives in the past. Right-wingers are truly pathetic creatures who will accept any abuse and indignity you impose on them as long as you treat minorities even worse. That’s the whole point of culture war bullshit. They will happily accept you lowering their standard of living as long as you throw the hogs a bone in the form of being cruel to women/poc/lgbtq people.

The Senedd (pronounced Sen-eth for non-Welsh speakers, the Welsh Parliament) is currently controlled by Plaid Cymru (Pl-eyed Cum-ree) and health is devolved so this is not a Labour issue, although labour’s transphobia has enforced this political environment

which would mostly mean that it works as painfully slow in Wales as in most European countries, but at least doesn’t have people routinely dying on the wait list as in England.
From experience it takes ~2½ years to get a WGS referral and then at least another year for hormones. Surgery waiting lists are agonisingly long due to the lack of surgeons in Wales capable of carrying out gender affirming surgeries, but the referral just requires social transition + being on testosterone blockers for a while so is typically quicker than in England even though they have more people capable of doing such surgeries.
Different story for trans mascs from what I’ve heard in that there’s plenty of surgeons that can do top surgery but a lot of medical gatekeeping.
