Oh these are back in fashion!
I have a hard time seeing these as anything but pajama shorts hahaha. They are kinda flirty and I like them though.
I’d probably pair it with something like the last picture: a plain tank and then throw a cute cardigan with a pattern on. Some chuck taylors, too. And my hair pinned back on one side with some fun barrettes.
That’s what I think when I see them on the hanger too! The silky ones especially seem difficult to wear. I remember when I was a teenager in Y2K times making my own by sewing lace onto a bottom of cutoffs so them being back in style was funny to me. I probably won’t be reviving this look personally but when I was looking for inspo I had to admit there’s definitely some cute ways to make it work

Haha yes!! I did this to a few pairs of jeans that I turned into cutoffs as well. Then I’d pair them with sheer black nylons and boots. Ahh nostalgia haha

Those are also back! I saw a pair at Urban Outfitters and told my 20 year old daughter who I was shopping with I had made a pair just like that in highschool, they seem to be a bit “off trend” but I think they’re cuter and more livable than the silky Bermuda length ones.

Probably because I’m old now, but lace is too strongly associated with undergarments for me to not find this look odd. Would definately think someone left the house without being fully dressed.
I’m not saying people shouldnt do this though. Would be a great ice breaker in some situations

I was at a store called Oak + Fort when I first saw them on the hangar and assumed it was lingerie but lingerie as clothes had been an off and on trend for a while now so I guess it’s par for the course. Part of why I chose them for this post is because I do think they’re controversial (interesting) and when I started digging I realized I actually liked several versions of the trend and I might actually grab a pair if I find some second hand, if nothing else I’ll end up with a pair of cute PJ shorts lol
Yes! They’re PJ shorts, that’s how I’d wear them!
They remind me a little of my grandma’s bloomers, she died in the 80’s… (or I could be completely misremembering, which does happen sometimes)
I’ve noticed recently younger women/teenagers are wearing tight fitting shorty shorts with what I can only describe as a ‘bra hammock’ (what I’d class as swimwear) so lace bloomer/shorts seems on trend right now

I never participate in any kind of fashion trend.
People should just be their selves and wear what they have and like, not run after some stupid social trend in a effort to fit in. Be different, be authentic, be yourself.
Also trends are exactly why we have fast fashion and landfill insane amounts of unused clothes every year.
I’ll probably get kicked out for this comment but w/e, trends are poison.
I love seeing trends so I can pick and choose what I like. I tend to incorporate trends and keep them way past their “expiration”. For me it’s a good way of previewing new looks or silhouettes I might not have been exposed to.
Everything you wear was once a trend. What about the vintage trend? Thriftstore trends? Carhartts and Timberlands?
Fast fashion is about capitalism, not looking cute.

For sure if I buy something trendy, I still plan on wearing it out even if the trend fades. These last few years I’ve stocked up on bell-bottoms, they’re my favorite and I’ll have enough even after the trend goes away. I’ll be able to wear bell-bottoms for decades.
The time my wardrobe was most curated was from going through thrift and second-hand shops to find mid-century modern type dresses, blouses, and skirts.
Trends are cyclical and do not necessarily demand that new clothing be produced and bought each time - that’s capitalism.
People also craft clothing by hand quite often. Quite literally CultLeader4Hire and myself are having a discussion about adding lace to cutoffs by hand in this same thread.
Clothing choices are far beyond just an effort to fit in. They can signal to the rest of the world quite a lot of messaging, they can help reaffirm our own self-worth, and they are functional.
Would it be kind to tell you that your interest in Star Trek is just an attempt at fitting in socially? That you shouldn’t do it, you should find something more unique so you can be “yourself”?
They look super comfy. I’d just do a tank top over maybe, with some sandals.

I’m curious, what makes a pair of shorts just shorts versus pj shorts? I find the silky ones to look like lingerie and I guess some people sleep in lingerie but lace trim shorts in other fabrics seem more livable to me. I don’t like wearing satins or (fake, like “mulberry”) silks because they tend to get runs, ESPECIALLY as bottoms but as an idea I think they can work as day wear in a more practical fabric.
I love the embellishment! I love the texture! These are neutrals and I need more color in my life. If i ever learn to sew, i could see myself making distressed black pajama style pants with a big fuchsia lace trim at the bottom

Lace is another thing I can’t do too much of. The light fabric against my skin really tickles. And after my other comments this morning about my skin, I’m thinking I have a sensory thing going on here 🤔

These shorts feel very summery. I would style this with a tank top and flip flops. I’d add my lightweight button up short sleeved shirt that has little yellow bees on it and shiny gold strands woven into it. The colors would match these shorts perfectly!
