Justice Department leadership is prepared to use its rule-making authority to declare transgender people as mentally ill and deprive them of their Second Amendment right to possess firearms, according to two Justice officials who shared internal discussions with CNN.

Deliberations at the highest levels of the DOJ follow the recent mass shooting at Annunciation Catholic Church in Minneapolis, an attack police say was carried out by a 23-year-old former student at the church’s school who may have been a transgender person or a de-transitioned individual. Two children were killed in the attack, and 21 others were injured.

    With the Chevron Deference overturned last year, the DOJ policy will have to be directly interpreted by the Supreme Court without DOJ input when it eventually makes it there.

    1. Only a doctor can make a mental illness diagnosis.

    2. Nobody will voluntarily give up their guns, especially under Trump. So just try to come and get them.

    3. Did the NRA forget to “Resist Tyranny” again? Remember their decades of BS about how “the libs were coming for your guns?”

      The language prohibiting the ownership of guns for the mentally ill is someone who has been adjudication as mentally defective (as in: by a court declaration), or who has been committed to a mental institution.

      As for gender identity: the ATF added the option of non-binary gender to the 4473 5 years ago, so it clearly didn’t have an issue then.

    Yeah that’s not tyranny at all…

    Also love how the NRA and GOP ignores the fact that the church lead this person to commit these crimes as they were shunned by the church for being themselves. Then they went radical fascist and shot up the church as retaliation for hating them and making them feel like less than human.

    So i guess the only logical thing to do now is thoughts and prayers…

      Just don’t be LGBT+, don’t be not white, don’t be a woman, and follow christ and Donnie the diddler won’t take your guns. Anyone else, maybe start trying to hide them before they come for yours.

    Actually mentally ill people can have guns, how else will we have regular mass shootings?

    Trans though? Those are perverse, they change the mind, they make you believe that everyone should have the right to be treated as an equal, can you imagine? Perverse, I tell you, they can’t have guns!

    If republicans dont stand up for my rights to own guns, then I will never stand up for their rights to own guns ever again. Everyone knows the government is full of pedos and criminals, and yet dumb people keep giving them support and power. We need militias, not gun laws. Governments are the biggest criminals on earth.
