After months of striking, some therapists with Kaiser Permanente stopped eating for five days to bring attention to their union's demands for parity with how the company's other workers are treated.

Mental health workers making 40% less than occupational therapists and radiation techs is WTF tier. “Why do we have a shortage of psychiatric care providers? Maybe we need to give the VPs an extra $295,849 bazillion to help them improve their management capabilities.”

So providing evidence based care to people with severe mental illness is making mud pies? I get why people here are critical of the “therapy industry” as it is populated with sheisters and bad experiences abound, but there are many who do help people suffering from OCD, PTSD etc everyday. Plainly I just disagree

there’s no way to tell the difference.

how many therapy patients would be better assisted with cash in hand rather than the money going into a shrink and overhead?

A lot, of course. But you can’t buy yourself out of OCD, PTSD, addiction, etc.

“No way to tell the difference” you can ask the people it helps
