I’m ashamed of some of the regions of Québec that voted Conservative. Being from rural Montérégie but now living in Montréal is like two different worlds when it comes to politics. The riding where most of my family lives was won by the Bloc Québecois but followed by the Conservatives. The riding next to it was won by the Conservatives.
I hate to admit it, but if it were not for the Bloc Québecois, there would probably be even more people here voting for the Conservatives.
With any luck the Conservatives will split back into two parties. It’s unlikely, but the splitting of the Conservatives would be a welcome surprise.

Yes, it does happen all the time. And the consequences are not always just a ticket.
Even right now. Look at how people have to wait in huge lines to get some gas every time there is a natural disaster, or extreme weather. After a few days, or even hours, it’s mostly gone.
Oh I thought this was The Onion for a second, but apparently it’s real. I mean, obviously.
I thought the formula was to be the child of a well-to-do family, start a tech company in a garage, then scam your way up to become a billionaire.
Ironically, saying thank you to machines is wasting energy and costing millions.
A few years ago I had a depression and two dreams were coming back repeatedly.
My apartment was a floating in the middle of the ocean and I had to defend it against “invaders”, like my landlords, my parents, some of my “friends”. They were all trying to “attack” me and invade my now lonely isolated floating apartment.
The other one is my fit coworker hunting and running after me to capture me and bring me back forcefully to my parents, from which I was running away, in my mid thirties.
Yuck, I’m not waiting for it. If possible I’d like to run away from that thing. I only associate it with corporations and work.
Oh they have responses. Just shitty ones. Some will tell you that they are arming themselves, while others will tell you that it’s the fault of those that didn’t vote enough.
Best of luck to them at the next election. Meanwhile they can just buy more guns. They will be totally useful when the militarized fascist authorities will kidnap and deport them to El Salvador.
Soon Trump will issue an executive order making it illegal not to visit the US. Everyone in the world not visiting the US because of boycott will be sent to a Salvadoran gulag.
And they will happily vote for him again.
Yes, obviously the poor and desperate should be better educated and know better.
Yeah, the brave Canadian resistance fighters that defended Canada in Afghanistan. Or the brave heroic American resistance fighters that defended the US from the invading Iraqis, by killing and torturing thousands of civilians. So noble. Thanks for their service.

I know it’s more complicated than that but this post gives me this kind of vibes. The soldiers invading on the other side are being told the same thing and are willing to kill others for the same reasons. How noble their sacrifice is! All soldiers! Thanks for fighting amongst yourselves and doing little bits of “collateral damage” in order to save your country from the barbarians.
If the US ever invades my country and I somehow need to kill Americans, I won’t be a fucking hero, I’ll be a murderer, just like them. It’s nothing to be praised. Even if I just help others “defending” my country using my tech skills, it’ll still be helping to murder others. I really really can’t understand doing that willingly. If you have to, yes. But those doing this willingly are also those willing to invade other countries and take the lives of others based on what they see on their side. Again, nothing to be praised.

If there is anything that life showed me at a young age, during gym classes, it’s that sports people and competitive people will not stop for compassion or ethics.
They can come from the most democratic country, but those athletes will have trained all their life for this moment, and they would still go even if the Olympics were held in a North Korean torture camp.
Again, they trained all their life for this, so what’s a few human rights violations, or even a little bit of blatant corruption, if you can say you won the Olympics?
Except for the emotional support vehicle.
It was the same on the municipal level for me. I can call 311 or write to them, but it was kind of nice to be able to tweet at my neighbourhood and have people interacting with them and me on local issues.
