Of the Air (cele/celes)

pronouns: cele/celes

Plural. This is why we use we. Trans{gender and species}.

We aren’t human, thank you!

We are also ace- and aro- spec, so don’t direct sexual or romantic things at us.

  • We think that the focus on ‘afab’ is very confusing and likely disrespectful to other people’s gender.

We’d say it’s not really possible to be attracted to a gender assignment and probably what you mean is genitals or some other physical features.

Most nonbinary people who have worked hard to get rid of or distance themselves from their gender assignment are probably not going to appreciate you finding them attractive based on a gender assignment.

Genital or other physical features attraction is probably okay and much better than saying you are attracted to a gender assignment. If you are going to call yourself ‘sapphic’ then unless you are legitimately only attracted to women and lesbians, regardless of genitals or other physical features, then we suggest just explaining your attraction rather than using ‘sapphic’ by defining it as being attracted to people who aren’t women/lesbians but who have vaginas and not being attracted to women/lebians who have penises as that’s just invalidating and transphobic, nonbinary erasure etc.

  • Personally we have a hard time seeing it as a slur on the level as other ones used for queer or trans people, though feel free to clarify on this.

However, it is absolutely wrong both morally/ethically and scientifically most of the time and it bothers us to no end, because for most people it just doesn’t fit the lived reality or if it does we apologise but it is absolutely fetishising those of us who are trans femme and/or intersex and that therein we feel lays the crux of the problem — fetishisation.

Those who are trans femme and/or are intersex do not exist just for others to get off to.

We also notice it is a problem in a misogynstic sense too as porn artists choose to do it in some cases to characters who have certain gentials in canon and are fine with those genitals but the artists do not think that those people, especially those presenting as femme, can have those genitals and be powerful or in wlw relationships or relationships with femme presenting people, other people with those same genitals or perhaps just in general if they are strong, not submissive or confident in some way.

Please let us know if anything we have said here isn’t understandable or crosses some line.
