The recent campus crackdowns underscore the danger of the decades-long rise in school policing.

Campus police are like H.R., they’re there to protect the campus, not the students.

One cold winter my car’s battery died. I called campus police to help jump start. I was parked just outside the university so they refused to help me. I even had the cables.

They’re also usually paid by the college or university. So guess where their loyalty goes.

Campus cops never kept people safe. They keep the property safe.

Police aren’t here to keep you safe, they’re here to keep you in line, step up and get shot.

It’s almost like the main function of cops isn’t even public safety. Hint: it’s not. Double hint: it’s property protection

Close. They’re actually there to preserve existing power structures. This is why you’re more likely to find them out cracking heads than chasing car thieves.

Campus cops don’t have authority like police do.

Depends on how they are trained and the authorizations they have. Idk if authorizations is the right word but many do have authority.

Maybe I’m thinking campus cops are just security and don’t have the sane legal power that cops do.

On many campuses they are just security. Not always though

That’s what i assumed, that it was just campus security. Weakens my point though, that they are legal police.
