Could you provide some examples of people making the opposite claim?

If you weren’t important, the corporations wouldn’t want to acquire your deepest secrets.

        Like… Why you’re naked & stuff…

No one would make that statement, but some sure as hell act like it when they’re ‘super busy or carrying a lot of stuff’.

If mere 20 folders are enough to block your vision, then go ahead, try to ram me, little one. I may even react to it, if I won’t be drowning in my heavy, deep thoughts, regarding SIRIUS business & shit… 😬

it does. you have something to do and that is important. if someone has nothing to do the least they can do is acknowledge someone else has more to do and therefore that’s more important than the doing of nothing

They’re both silly, yours just seemed more so to me because you followed up on a silly generalization with another silly generalization.

And my thing is the most important! That’s why i pass on the shoulder, cut in at the exit, and push into the elevator first.

Everyone thinks they’re busier with more important things than everyone else. Wasn’t that the point of the post?

Only if it’s exaggerated for the sake of appearances. Some people might do that, either to make themselves look important or seek attention, but most of the time, people are in fact busy with some task, or are carrying something for a reason. And generally, that comes with some purpose that is important to them at the time.

It’s a logical conclusion to draw, even if some people may hijack that reasoning to be deceitful.

A “Showerthought” is a simple term used to describe the thoughts that pop into your head while you’re doing everyday things like taking a shower, driving, or just daydreaming. The most popular seem to be lighthearted clever little truths, hidden in daily life.

Here are some examples to inspire your own showerthoughts:

  • Both “200” and “160” are 2 minutes in microwave math
  • When you’re a kid, you don’t realize you’re also watching your mom and dad grow up.
  • More dreams have been destroyed by alarm clocks than anything else

Rules

  1. All posts must be showerthoughts
  2. The entire showerthought must be in the title
  3. No politics
    • If your topic is in a grey area, please phrase it to emphasize the fascinating aspects, not the dramatic aspects. You can do this by avoiding overly politicized terms such as “capitalism” and “communism”. If you must make comparisons, you can say something is different without saying something is better/worse.
    • A good place for politics is c/politicaldiscussion
  4. Posts must be original/unique
  5. Adhere to Lemmy’s Code of Conduct and the TOS

If you made it this far, showerthoughts is accepting new mods. This community is generally tame so its not a lot of work, but having a few more mods would help reports get addressed a little sooner.

Whats it like to be a mod? Reports just show up as messages in your Lemmy inbox, and if a different mod has already addressed the report, the message goes away and you never worry about it.
