The older the internet gets, the more it’s like a city that keeps building on top of its own ruins. What’s is your favorite bit of internet archeology if memes are like artifacts and relics?
Was just about to post this exact question lol. Judging by how often I say it, I’d have to say
IMMA FIRIN MAH LAZER!

There are no dead memes.
we miss relatable Moomin Memes :(

It’s the only meme I have ever truly loved.
Superb.
A good classic

Fuck I’m old.
Technically that was a screensaver not a meme. How about the Oswald/Ruby band?
(
)At the time, it was such a cliche to have the AfterDark screensaver installed on your early Windows (3.1? '95/'98 for sure) PC, that it was mocked and parodied.
In case you were unaware, they added Flying Toasters to the xscreensaver at some point.
Help. I don’t know what I’m doing but I’m moderator of fuckimold.
I can’t find any such /c
Maybe you speakest the truth.
Youre among friends. Here’s my favorite flying toasters video to loop :)
So many references from the pre-youtube era occupy a permanent part of my brain.
Arrowed

Schfifty Five

Peanut butter jelly time

H*R has irreparably ruined my vocabulary. I’ll often say “ooh, dere is two of dem!” whenever there are unexpectedly two of something, and “NOOOTHIIING!” when I check outside for a package and it’s not there yet. Also “ARROW’d” as above.
I also often say “hellot” instead of “hello”.
I’m in my 40s and Homestar/TGS/Sbemail quotes are more of my vernacular than I even know. I’ll watch an old toon with my partner and they’ll be like “THAT’S WHY YOU SAY THAT IN THAT WAY?!”
Homestar Runner is an inside joke that everyone is in on.
It’s dot com!
Honestar Runner dot net. It’s dot Com
…CUT!
The system is down. There’s a swiss cake roll in your motherboard.
Good jorb!
JEEEEAAAARRRRRRROOOOOOOBBBBBB
We had that lightswitch installed for you so you could turn the lights on and off , not so you could throw lightswitch raves!
This comment is… BAAAHHHLLEETTTEEDDD
Great jyorb!
Err … Mah … GERD!
TGS is one of my favorite internet series of all time.
I have to stop myself from making references, because it’s so old that they don’t land anymore.
Make whatever references you want as long as you’re sure this won’t emancipate me from my ridiculous stripe-ed pants
I miss video games.
I miss my mom
SAILING MISHAP!
You can have mine.
“Wave of babies!” Might be the most dangerous vocal stim in my brain that doesn’t seem that offensive on the surface because there’s no curse words or slurs, yet I can’t say it nearly as often as I want to because seriously…!
Late 360 Shove-It to Boneless!…’d
Schwan, doo, doo and a hief…
Hey, little girl… do you want to know a sec-a-ret? because I know one, and it is sooo good to hear it…
TGS and Group X got me through college.
Two hawt chaim and cheesus and two meester cokes.
I like Rick Rolling because the longer it’s been since someone last used it, the more effective it is. It’s like a zombie. It’s never really dead. Here is an interesting video on the topic:

Pretty sure this is actually older than Keyboard Cat.
Edit:
Ok so, this whargarbl is 2008, technically, keyboard cat was first uploaded in 2007, but it didn’t “become a meme” untill somebody else used the clip at the end of another video, for comical effect, in 2009.
I got my kids (7 and 10) singing “Badger, Badger, Badger” and quoting Charlie the Unicorn (complete with voices)…and I couldn’t be prouder.
