I had a dream last night where a misshapen naked bald man with bright red skin was sitting in front of me and reciting a long mostly incoherent rant, so I woke myself up and wrote down the little bit I was able to remember:

You can’t say the words but you don’t want to hear it

Have you ever had a dream where you were able to bring back some particular words that were spoken or written down? What were they?

One time I bolted awake only remembering the words, “Lentils are not available during serious police conversations.” I have zero idea what I was even dreaming that that was in my mind.

I once had a dream I kept thinking about for days, where a man with a Russian accent gets on a stage and sings “I will write a novel with a compelling plot but you will not know any characters thoughts”

Such a weird sentence my brain conjured. It seems like he was trying to sell this idea to someone but he didn’t give any info about what this novel is about. A compelling plot? Every writer thinks they’re writing a compelling plot. It’s very subjective. It’s like he’s trying to sell that as something unique. But the second part is pretty unique. Never revealing what any characters are thinking. That would be unusual for a novel but not really in a good way. One of the advantages novels have over visual media is that it’s easier to show what the characters are thinking. It’s like this guy in my dream was bragging about the idea of writing a compelling plot without using a basic narrative tool. I guess in theory it might be impressive if an author wrote a really good novel without revealing character’s thoughts but imma need a lot more convincing than him just saying it’s really good but lacking a basic narrative tool.

Yeah, I put way too much thought into a random nonsense sentence my brain conjured

The only dream I ever had with readable text featured a book called “The Art and Philosophy of Garfield”. I flipped it open to a random page, chapter title “Moving Away from Form and Meaning”, appeared to be a dissection of the defining visual and behavioral traits of Garfield and exploration of how drastically they could be modified while remaining recognizable as Garfield. The title page image was a smear of colors in a Garfield fur pattern with a speech bubble containing the word

    “THISTLETHISTLETHISTLEBRRRBROWL”

which I can only assume is some sort of onomatopoeia. I have no idea what any of that meant.

I remember the words from someone else’s dream. My boyfriend was talking in his sleep and mumbled “sir, put your penis AWAY.”

He dreamt he was a cop dealing with a flasher.

Most recently I apparently had a sex dream about BBNO$ and I don’t actually remember the sex I do remember saying “I can’t believe I’m having sex with BBNO$!!”

Last night I had a dream where I was doing something on my phone while a friend was playing a video game. Someone else in their party (someone online, I think?) wanted to go back to the start, but they couldn’t remember how to get there. I said:

Out the door, take a right, then left and left again. I’m barely paying attention and I remember.

I have no idea why that part of the dream stuck in my mind.

Had this disturbing ass dream this week about some kind of disgusting crust-punk antihero in a comic book kind of story. He walks into a pawn shop on the way to some kind of crisis or other to pick up a CD. His comic book superhero power is he can absorb the personality and some associated abilities of a musician who’s CD he can listen to. He attempts to steal this CD from the pawn shop despite it being only like $2 and is confronted by the angry owner.

“You’re no superhero. You’re only stealing that piece of trash because you don’t have the balls!”

The balls- to what is not verbally specified. It’s implied perhaps to pay for it or act less antisocial. But as I, some unfortunate onlooker of some kind discover, what is actually meant is “the balls to play that CD, take on the personality of a more violent criminal musician, take up residence in the apartment above the pawn shop, and rule over the building as a squatter/slumlord for at least a week”. The shop owner seemed to want this to happen and the guy just completely gives up on his superhero task to do this until somebody comes looking for him. The absurdity of it and the overall grossness of the rest of the dream have completely made me forget most other dreams I’ve remembered recently

I remember most of the things from my dreams on account of years of practice, but most recently I had a really silly exchange.

Dreaming of a break at dream work, I’ve taken off my boots and I’m sitting with my spouse in the food court. 3 dream coworkers come by

Dream coworker, “What’s that word on your socks about?”

looks at socks, word is “Viganté”, “fuck if I know, probably something to do with the brand.”

Dream coworker, inspects socks again, “Little-D socks company…”

Other dream coworker to my spouse, “more like big D amiright!?

    Laugh track

    Then I woke up.

Outside of this, most of my dreams are spooky or surreal and not as fun.
