I had a dream last night where a misshapen naked bald man with bright red skin was sitting in front of me and reciting a long mostly incoherent rant, so I woke myself up and wrote down the little bit I was able to remember:

Have you ever had a dream where you were able to bring back some particular words that were spoken or written down? What were they?
I once had a dream I kept thinking about for days, where a man with a Russian accent gets on a stage and sings “I will write a novel with a compelling plot but you will not know any characters thoughts”
Such a weird sentence my brain conjured. It seems like he was trying to sell this idea to someone but he didn’t give any info about what this novel is about. A compelling plot? Every writer thinks they’re writing a compelling plot. It’s very subjective. It’s like he’s trying to sell that as something unique. But the second part is pretty unique. Never revealing what any characters are thinking. That would be unusual for a novel but not really in a good way. One of the advantages novels have over visual media is that it’s easier to show what the characters are thinking. It’s like this guy in my dream was bragging about the idea of writing a compelling plot without using a basic narrative tool. I guess in theory it might be impressive if an author wrote a really good novel without revealing character’s thoughts but imma need a lot more convincing than him just saying it’s really good but lacking a basic narrative tool.
