We need to normalize weight lifting as a grandma hobby. By the time I hit post-menopause I want to be ripped with cute crochet doilies for my free weights.
I’ve been saving up for a sewing machine for a few weeks now.
I’d give you mine if I could. I don’t use it anyway.
I am just starting so I bought a little one from.the thrift store for $30! It works well for doing just little projects like I am now.
I’ve been doing all the usual grandma hobbies for a while now. You know, things like lifting heavy objects and putting them back down (weightlifting), carving chops, etc. I’m planning on expanding that into distilling my own liquor, but that’s a lot of planning and study to get right (where “right” is defined as “doesn’t make me go blind”).
Grandma hobbies are the last of the affordable hobbies.
My mom used to do what she called “Grandma Jones’ Days” and we would stay in our comfy house clothes and do crafts and watch soaps and eat the yummiest foods all day. I love leaning into grandma hobbies!

Idk about hobbies but I’m definitely into the style, especially pants. Drawstring, elastic waistband everything for the rest of forever. Pairs well with blouses or t-shirts, so I can still do business casual without being uncomfortable.
This is exactly why half my pants are scrubs. Power to you.
Scrubs are the best. All the pocket, and no guilt if they get messed up.
Knitting wasn’t grandma coded for me. My mother got pregnant with me and twin, went “I should be able to knit things for my babies” and went to a yarn store and asked to be taught. She then taught us. Her mother didn’t know shit about handicrafts.
Gardening is grandfather hobby. He was a rancher farmer guy! I channel him and my husband’s father into the tomatoes. It only sort of works.
I’m here for it! Been making a bunch of stuff lately, legwarmers, bracelets, and pins. Went shopping for materials to make some custom can badges for an ita bag.
What are custom can badges? I’m intrigued.
They are button badges that you can put a custom image inside of. Some folks use it for a favorite anime character, tv show, etc. Lots of people make and sell custom badges on Etsy but if you have a craft store or a Daiso store nearby, you can also make them yourself.
I bought a badge kit yesterday along with some other materials.
Or if you plan on making a lot of them to sell at a con, you can get machine like this one.
Oh, right! I’ve never heard them called can badges before. We have a press at the local makerspace.

I am starting to feel the pull. Walked by a variety shop the other day and something in the window caught my eye. It was a woobles begginning crochet kit. I should watch some videos first…
