Wyoming’s “stand your ground” law is supposed to offer legal protections to gun owners who draw in self-defense, yet Ms. Kelver was arrested and charged with aggravated assault and possession of a deadly weapon with unlawful intent, charges that carry up to 15 years in prison.

The case has touched off an impassioned debate in one of the country’s most gun-friendly, staunchly Republican states about whether the Second Amendment applies when the person holding the gun is transgender.

This is what happens when a society created a unsafe environment loaded with guns. Not a single thing done here was different then if the people had been cis. But because this women wasn’t going to take shit then she got the law coming at her.

She could in fact gone back inside when the harassment happened but two issues.

      1. It might signal to these yahoos that she is a easy target and if the get it in their head they could stay around to attack later.

      2. Its really fucking shit to be the one being harrased and told to suck it up and leave. Its a understandble reaction at first but falls apart a little under more heavy scrutiny.

These men are the ones who started it. And now them and all the macho fucks are upset because the status quo was not enforced. So now they need to try and save face anyway they can. This kind of thing is inevitable when you live in a fascist empire like this. Some people are not going to sit around waiting for the axe to fall. Some people are going to fight back instead of cowering away. How smart that is at which opportunity is a moot point. When the back breaks and the last straw is taken, shit is going to happen.

I want to add that this sort of stuff is the result of lots of small things happening over time. “Death by a thousand cuts”.

“Mutual respect” and “keeping a level head” may not be tangible physical things, but they are finite resources. Piss people off enough, and they explode.

This sort of thing caused a minor blow up at a community center thing I attend to. The organization switched to forcing everyone to use “”““Freedom””""Transit for cost reduction reasons and the utter garbage that is US public transport pissed everyone off enough that one of the staff members almost got a new asshole.

Frankly I probably would’ve done the same thing if I was her, with the distance different that I’d do it sooner as I have a short fuse!

This seems crazy excessive for the situation though.

if her charges aren’t a sign that the us government means to murder all transgender people then there’s never been a genocide.
