Obviously they didn’t spend all their time alone at home.

You can, you just need to make your victims come to you and kill them home alone style.

I think the more common trope is, “He was physically, mentally, and sexually abused by his mother and string of stepfathers… Oh! And yes, obviously social inteoversion and an inability to form relationships ensued among the many other things…”

Quite a few serial killers had wives and families. I’m listening to a deep dive about the Green River Killer and even he was able to pull ladies frequently.

Yeah, it’s certainly not the case for everyone, but damn is it so much more a common backstory than anything else.

The shift in the 1970s from “they were born a monster” to “what made them a monster?” is honestly embarrassingly late on our anthropologic timeline.

Interestingly enough, lead exposure may have played more of a role than previously thought as well.

Yeah, afaik the formula is unpredictable reactions in authority figures plus abuse.

You must be watching the wrong documentaries, quite a lot of serial killers had a pretty normal family life.

And then the bodies! Do you know how heavy a person is? Even if you chop them waaaaay up, it’s still a lot of trips. Sounds like work.

Would you be surprised to find out there are people who are more uncomfortable and unlikable than serial killers?
