If you have basic familiarity with West African politics, you know Burkina Faso and the Sahel states are cool (besides the recent anti homosexuality legislation which was cringe) and Cote d Ivoire are collaborator bastards who need to get their shit together.

Yeah Ivory Coast is pretty cringe, but at least they officially kicked out the french bases. They are ripe for an socialist revolution though.

What’s your opinion on Laurent Gbagbo? My relatives have high hopes about him, but I can’t seem to find much about his policies. I hope he governs similarly to Sankara tho

          Laurent Gbagbo

He was already president of the country and got arrested by the ICC and couped by the west. The First Ivorian civil war happened under him, when the Muslim north rebelled against the Christian south and then France invaded- So not exactly good given the modern issues facing the AES.

All in all not exactly a stellar record despite being anti-west and the Pan-African movement in Ivory Coast being centred around him. He also survived it all somehow and got acquitted by the UN? I would be sceptical about him, but who knows.

Also given the hostile relationship between Burkina Faso and Ivory Coast, I kinda doubt much will be based on Sankara’s legacy.
