When they want to do the right thing for the wrong reasons… Just let them
When States have low income/sales/property tax they pretty much always have a higher income/sales/property tax to make up for the difference. This part doesn’t really make it into the discussion cause it’s sorta complex and most American just like to whine about the tax rate in general and nothing beyond that.
It’s not really true unless you are wealthy enough to have an accountant shuffle your money around for you. Most states end up around the same amount once all is said and done cause that’s how much it costs to run a state.
Fighting on the front lines for the Russian Federation is far from “peak”. Defect to Cuba or Vietnam or something and do something constructive jfc
Why would you fight on the front lines for the Russian Federation? What a waste, if true.
they’re
We’re part of this too, comrade
You own the spot in the ledger, if nobody considers the ledger authoritative then 🤷🏼♂️
Yep people were clowning on it from day 1 for this exact reason
What do you mean by “adjustments”, “market makers”, and “over performing isn’t always good”?
Appreciate the insight, ty
Oh yeah! The fear factor guy!
Do you think you can tell “enough” from the figures on the public statements? I always kinda felt like those numbers contained too little data and could be manipulated. Would appreciate your insight about that sorry of thing.
Various sources added by the mods
Right, I hope that our mods would defed any instance acting in bad faith, but it’s possible that if something were to change it would be too late anyway since that instance would have all the data already.
It’s more of an opportunity cost when they can’t export to the US as easily. It’s whatever though, just more decoupling of the US from its key allies
Also a federated non-Lemmy software can also see all votes, and can choose whether to display them or not. Votes have never been private and never can be. They’re just hidden away.
If any common user wants to see them, they can set up their own server (thus becoming the admin) and pull in any federated content they want to see the details of.
There’s a strong clue but it will take more investigation before we know one way or the other.
It could be decades before we are fully confident in either direction (could be less than that), but it’s an exciting prospect.
People want their material needs met, and when they get that in an unequal manner under the capitalist system, they want to enforce a border that enables the exploitation of the underclasses to continue. They follow along when the capitalist hegemony points the finger at other nationalities, religions and cultures cause they have no theoretical grounding. We have seen this recently with trump and co. Saying “see those sweatshop slaves in Asia? They need to pay their fair share! These tariffs will fix that” and the seals bark and clap for him.
Implying that a political philosophy developed in direct response to capitalism isn’t relevant in the still-capialist global mode of production.
Implying that Marxist political philosophy hasn’t evolved since Marx. Hint: “Marxism-Leninism” was developed from and after Lenin, making it literally a 20th century development. Maoism later than that, not to mention other newer strains of Marxist theory that are adapted to current material conditions of the 21st century.
Implying that the Russian and Chinese revolutions (etc) “just caused a lot of people to die” and there’s nothing else, positive or negative, that can be learned from these events. Implying that all was well and peaceful before the communists just showed up one day and started killing everyone who disagreed.
I don’t even consider myself “M-L” or whatever, but I encourage you to develop a deeper analysis of these philosophies and historical events. They are going to have a larger and larger effect on your life as the PRC becomes the primary driver of the global economy that you participate in (whether or not you agree with their particular actions and activities)
