Hell, even if they haven’t climbed the ladder yet they will kick it over if there is a chance that a black or trans person might be able to climb it too.

They love that too. But they do seriously enjoy using a system to better themselves just to make sure no one can do it after.

Yeah. But what people dont understand is that he personally doesn’t need them now

And if a conservative doesn’t personally need something, they’re literally incapable of understanding anyone else might still need it.

It was good when it benefited him, now it doesn’t and he pays for it, so it’s a bad thing.

        That and a larger amygdala…

The brain can change well into your 60s, but the differences between conservative/liberal brain’s is so obvious that with like 15 minutes of training anyone can correctly determine political leaning with around an 80% accuracy rate

Which sounds pretty accurate until you remember that ~30% don’t vote…

And then it becomes freaky accurate.

Ideological differences between partisans may reflect distinct neural processes, and they can predict who’s right and who’s left of center with 82.9 percent accuracy, outperforming the “your parents pick your party” model. It also out-predicts another neural model based on differences in brain structure, which distinguishes liberals from conservatives with 71.6 percent accuracy.

Nothing wrong with asking for a source, but it’s a good habit to try yourself first. Especially with the lower activity in Lemmy.

The article you sent does not say that anyone can do it with 15 min. of training. It speaks of different levels of activity in different parts of the brain in an MRI scan. I myself do not have an MD, but I’m pretty sure reading an MRI to look at brain activity takes a little bit more effort.

I may have misinterpreted your previous message a bit as well, but as I understood it you implied that the way your amygdala is determines your political leanings. The article says it may be the other way around, like with London cab drivers having their brains change as they study the layout of the city. I’m sorry if I misunderstood you there.

Have a good day and thanks for sending this :)

People seemingly have forgotten that at one point Vance would say “I never supported trumps policies. I never liked trump as a person. I’m a never trump guy.”

Now, after he lost the campaign, being trumps vp is the best he can do. Suddenly he has no morals. He doesn’t stand behind his words, because NOW it suits him to be a trump guy.

That should tell you everything you need to know.

    Slammed? To shreds, you say?

Slammed is just behind “White House [emotion] About [latest bullshit the administration caused]” in the list of useless headlines designed to increase views.

I keep waiting for the headline to be something like “Vance slammed face-first into the sidewalk by passersby until he stopped twitching,” but I’m always disappointed.

Republicans only care about something when they NEED it. When they don’t need it then no one else is allowed to have it either.

Wow shocking, there’s tons of farmers who get millions of dollars from the government and vote against anyone else having any sort of assistance available to them, so this kind of rural bullshittery has been around quite a while.

There was a federal court ruling subsequent to the publication of the submitted article, so they should be moving, albeit with some delay. It’s not clear whether they will be paid in full for the month, though.

    https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/politics/2025/11/02/snap-government-shutdown-day-33-live-updates/87038309007/

Government shutdown live updates; Bessent says food benefits could flow by Wednesday

The payments appeared set to stop at the beginning of November, as the shutdown has stretched into a new week. But federal judges in Massachusetts and Rhode Island ruled Oct. 31 that the U.S. Department of Agriculture needs to use $5.25 billion in contingency funds to make at least partial payments.

Both judges said the Trump administration has the option to use certain discretionary money to provide the benefits in full for November. They gave the administration a limited number of days to provide an update on what it’s doing.

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said Sunday that President Donald Trump wants to hear from the courts about how to legally move money around to fund SNAP payments, but he noted during an interview on CNN’s “State of the Union” that it “could” flow by Wednesday.

“There’s a process that has to be followed,” Bessent said. “So, we’ve got to figure out what the process is.”

The Cabinet secretary also told the outlet that the Trump administration will not appeal the rulings.

I thought that, in this case, the headline pretty much summed up the article without being misleading or anything:

Massachusetts Congressman Jim McGovern slammed Vance, saying he should be “ashamed.”

He wrote on X: “JD Vance grew up on nutrition assistance provided by the federal government. Now, he’s ripping SNAP away from millions of hungry kids growing up in poverty. Pulling the ladder up when you reach the top is not the American way. He should be ashamed.”

So I’m not sure what you’re complaining about. Shouldn’t you make that sort of comment after you’ve read the article yourself? Because I think if you’d read the article, you’d know that the headline pretty much says what’s in the article.
