Since watching Andor, been on a Star Wars kick. Playing Fallen Order.
I’ve been thinking of that game a lot recently. Have you played it before?
No. I’ve had it in my backlog.
Enjoy. It’s a really fun game. I won’t spoil anything but I really enjoyed the last little bit of the game. I haven’t played the sequel but I heard it wasn’t nearly as good. I do own it in my backlog but I haven’t tried it.
I’ve been tempted to try Outlaws, but I keep hearing it’s very boring.
Yeah I’ve heard the same thing, and likewise have been tempted to try it. There is a demo on steam so I suppose I could try it out for free and see what I think. But my backlog is long enough as is, I don’t need more reason to increase that.
American Truck Simulator. Several (virtual) moving violations later, using the Driving Academy to try to git gud.
Peak
I‘m still playing Peak, if the stupid tomb opens today, I could get the last achievement! The next update is already in the works though, lookinf forward to it.
Children of Morta
Aside from that, my friend‘s back in town so we‘re also trying to finish Children of Morta. We have freed the three dudes, so I think we‘re close to the end.
I missed last week’s thread. I would have been cleaning up my backlog and playing Persona 3 Reload if it weren’t for Silksong dropping its release date right after I started playing it lol. And then Hades 2 release is also coming up, which I’ve also been waiting for since the start of early access. Fuck my backlog I guess.
Anyways, I’m 40 hours in and in the middle of Act 2 farming rosaries and clearing maps.
I’ve been playing Dying Light 2 after seeing some gameplay videos for the new one coming out this week. It made me think, I never finished that as I did buy it at or close to launch but got bored after 50hrs or so. But I think they’ve done a lot of updates on the combat and movement since release because the game feels so much better, I’m having a blast!
Started Into the Breach after getting it a few weeks ago in a Steam sale for less than $4. Excellent tactical gameplay with randomized encounters challenging enough that I haven’t successfully completed a run yet.
If you like Baba is You, that ones creator Hempuli was inspired by Into The Breach and created the mix of both: Mobile Suit Baba
Gem of a game! I kinda 100%ed it. I like how the difficulty is fair, but can be extremely punishing - one wrong move can fck you up big time. Like “ohhh I did not consider that this attack also pushes the monster D:”
Like A Dragon: Infinite Wealth. Picked up the previous game on sale and really liked it. This game is a major improvement on combat but a step backwards everywhere else IMO.
(Spoilers?) You play half the game as Kasuga, the main character of the last game. The other half, you’re the main character of some of the older Yakuza games. I do not like this. I get in the groove with one party right as it forced me to the other for the next chapter.
Also, a ton of the side quests for the other char are “remember this from the old games??”
Pokemon Blue using RetroArch on my phone. I got a gameboy color skin for the interface and laying in bed at night playing pokemon under the blanket makes me feel like a kid in the 90s again.
Also ‘The Midnight Walk’. The atmosphere and art style are perfection.
I’ve been using RetroArch to replay Pokémon games on my phone recently too. I’m currently on SoulSilver. I actually haven’t run into any of the usual visual bugs with HGSS emulation (black spots, full black screen, etc) which has been great. Every other emulator I’ve used has had those bugs. Maybe I’ve just been lucky this time around but it is a known issue with all ROMs for HGSS for some reason.
Does it let me 2x the gameplay speed? I was emulating on PC and had that, and want to know if I’d be able to have the same feature emulating on my phone.
Yeah there’s a fast forward button. RetroArch isn’t an emulator as such, or at least not in the same way others are, I don’t quite understand how it all works but you choose your emulator core and different cores have different settings. So if you don’t like the FF of one core, just change your core. I’m not sure it saves carry over when changing cores so maybe experiment when core settings before making any progress in the game.
I’ve been using melonDS for SoulSilver and it’s been great, FF is probably 2x speed on that one. It might be adjustable, I’m not sure. When I was playing Crystal the FF was probably closer to 10x speed, it was a bit much. But there’s lots of choices for cores so you can play around with it and see what you like.
Thank you!!
Might I recommend Universal Pokémon Randomizer for your next play through?
That actually looks like a lot of fun! I already know where to find everything so randomizing the entire game would make it feel fresh. Thank you for the suggestion!
You’re welcome, it’s a really good way to inject some new difficulty into a game you already know inside out. Careful about going full rando though, having your weedle evolve into a mewtwo with a 40PP hyper beam might break things a little!
Playing art of rally, and charlie murder 😁
I am slowly working my way through Pokemon Sun on my 3DS. I found a copy of The Golden Compass based on the early 2000s movie and that may be my next one. Either that or TMNT, I played that one before but I really enjoyed it and wouldn’t mind a replay.
Natural Selection 2 is still an awesome game with a pratically unique gameplay. It’s an RTS/FPS hybrid with asymmetrical teams. It’s worth checking out if you can handle a bit of a learning curve.
I started playing a VR game called “mothergunship: forge” it’s a roguelike wave shooter that gives you a bunch of blocks to build insane weapons that grow crazier and crazier every room. I prefer to put everything on the left hand so it ends up looking like a tree full of connectors, guns, power-ups, hats and keys XD
I got a VR headset a few months ago, tried a few games that I really enjoyed but nothing stuck apart from my beloved flight sim 2024. But this sounds like fun.
That sounds awesome, though VR only is unfortunate. It sounds like something I’d play if I had the means. Looks really fun.
I’m going against my usual behaviour and playing multiple games at once this week. I’ve almost finished Ninja Gaiden 2 Black (White), and this will probably be my go-to way to experience NG2 going forward. It’s not quite the full ridiculousness of the original (and the added girl chapters from Sigma do kind of ruin the pacing and flow) but it just looks so good and plays so smooth at 120 FPS. And it has full controller remapping like NGB had but NG2 lacked, so I can have light attack on R1 and heavy attack on R2 again. With the fixes and additions from the White mod it comes close enough to a “best of both worlds” version to satisfy me, and I have enjoyed some of the Sigma inclusions like the Enma’s Fang greatsword weapon and the removal of the tunnel worm boss.
Having finally received my package I also started on Ninja Gaiden: Dragon Sword that I’m playing on my N3DS. It was also Itagaki-designed and released between NGB and NG2. It’s a really interesting game, using the DS held in portrait mode like a book and the stylus as the only control input. It looks absolutely fantastic for a DS game, and the gameplay is surprisingly well translated from the mainline titles. It looks and feels just like a proper Ninja Gaiden title, with familiar animations and enemies and fast combat. It also has a fantastic Ninpo system where you draw the sign of the Ninpo you’re casting with the stylus, which is very fun so far. The only issue I’m having with it is constantly worrying that I’ll scratch the touchscreen from all the stylus use.
Valkyria Chronicles 4. I often have a hard time enjoying Japanese titles. With a lot of them the characters look kinda weird, the pace is sluggish with a lot of unneccessary dialogue and the UI is clutteded. Decided to give this one a go anyway and while some of the mentioned tropes are very much present it still slaps because of the unique gameplay.
