Genuine question; how’s that look like for UK police officers?
I ask because in germany, if you’re been a tenured civil servant - which like 90% of cops are - quitting means you’re subjecting yourself of being poor as shit once you’re old for a number of reasons I’ll only go into if somebody wants to know.
Which is why I propose there should be exit programs for these people
I mean that’s what my future looks like and I didn’t choose to work as a goon for capital. Most people alive today in the west are likely to be poor as shit in old age for a variety of economic reasons which do not justify joining a fascist paramilitary.
I get it and neither of you are wrong but given the choice between keep doing your job vs. don’t do it and suddenly give up a cushy retirement I feel like the scale skews heavily towars the latter. Now there’s ample reason to get mad at this but this is why I propose an exit program - works along the same lines as any other of those.

(Edit: coming from a burgerlander)
Um, actually, most people alive today in the west are likely to die before they reach old age. Checkmate, tankies.
I don’t know about you, but I know *my * retirement plan is just dying.

I suppose that would be installing those same cushy retirements for everyone, provided by the state
In America that’s just what being working class means
