An initiative aimed at boosting Democrats online offers influencers up to $8,000 a month to push the party line. All they have to do is keep it secret—and agree to restrictions on their content.
As ever, the dem response is to do whatever the republicans were doing two terms ago. This is them attempting to make a Lib tea-party movement Koch Brothers style. It worked for the Republicans, and is part of how we got Trump, because they have no qualms borrowing talking points and (the more presentable) talking-heads from the extreme right. The same cannot work for Dems. They refuse to engage with anything to the left George W Bush.
Right-wing belief is palatable to the elites. But the left? They find the left genuinely threatening.
The tea party was also astroturfed into prominence by right wing money.
And as usual the dems don’t realize the opposite of republican astroturfing isn’t democrat astroturfing it’s actual grassroots movement. Or they do realize that and they don’t want it to happen.
