There’s a bunch of autocrats who didn’t last that long, so that’s not nothing. The issue is that autocracy is pretty much categorically unethical.
As shown in practice by specimens like Gaddafi - dictators are often only “smart” for first ten years tops. After initial period of cementing one’s power and purging opposition from… well, everywhere… clock starts ticking towards inevitable yesmen-enabled descent into delusion. Trump did a speedrun here though - not yet a dictator, but already delusional to no end.
