So the scenario here is that they live in country A, make some delivery to country B, and over the course of or just after that delivery they get an assignment to deliver something else to country C, such that they had no idea they’d be going there when they were in country A? Well, I suppose either way my stance is that it’s mainly the company’s fault for endangering the crew, since it would be irresponsible for Houthis to allow human shield tactics to perpetuate the genocide.

ultimately the responsibility lies with the captain, he needlessly endangered the crew by refusing to comply with the Houthis’ orders
Unfortunately, I don’t think ship crew (other than the captain and navigator) get much of a choice in where the ship goes.

I think they usually don’t have visas to enter countries they’re docking at, so they can’t really elect to leave the ship
