This game has been on my radar since its initial announcement, but I’ve been on the fence because I was worried it was just a Mario game without Mario.

But after watching the direct a little bit ago, I’m convinced this game is going to be a pinch of Mario, a pinch of Zelda, and just a whole bucket of fun.

REALLY excited to pick this up day of release.

Totally didn’t have Donkey Kong: Hollow Earth on my Nintendo innovation bingo card. Might have to pick up a Switch 2 if we’re all still alive after the holidays.

This is going to be so good.

After basically going all of 2024 with the Switch 1 winding down its life cycle it’s fun to see new games again.

It’s pretty crazy how much different types of gameplay they packed into this. They could have easily stopped at just the environment destruction and called it a day.

It was the same for me! I thought it looked interesting from what we had seen before, but I wasn’t convinced. It looked like the concept was fun, but there wouldn’t be enough to keep you entertained for long.

After watching the Direct, I’m definitely getting this on release day too! I also got some Zelda vibes, like I could spend a lot of time exploring the different stages (as I do in BotW and TotK).

That Mario Artist like mini-game with the sculptures looks like a fun time sink!

Same here. While I was originally interested just because of DK (I like him as a character), after watching the direct (well, skimming the first 5 mins of the direct, since I prefer to go in as blind as possible) I am really excited about the game, and plan to get it day 1!

I cannot wait to play Pauline of the Kongdom: Odyssey. Was really uninterested in this before but I’ll probably get a used copy now.

Was a great showing! I was already on board because I dig the destruction angle. I still have some minor misgivings with some of the art direction.

But overall this presentation kept hitting with feature after feature. I hope (and semi-expect) it’s not a case where they’ve already shown most everything about the game though. Looking forward to playing next month!

Definitely looks interesting. I probably won’t buy it on day one, but it’s a strong chance I’ll get around to playing it eventually.

I don’t think I’ve actually played a mainline DK game since the SNES days, now that I think about it.

video was so cringy, especially the voice explaining things that I couldn’t watch beyond punch being explained twice followed by just the name of the the second ability being explained, dive punch.

If we get to the point of switch2 piracy or I get a chance to play it on someone else’s dime I will, but this video is selling it worse than plain gameplay footage would have. You don’t have to explain destructible voxel terrain like it was just invented for the first time while treating every digging direction like a unique thing, twice.

The narration was really cheesy. And it is a little hard to stay tuned in when he goes ‘look you can run! You can jump!’.

DK’s moveset looks good though - he seems like he’s fun to control.
