Besides character recognition in images, most people are also able to type.
This was a conversation about convenience, not typing in a language that you aren’t native too.
As long as the language of the respective post shares the same or a similar alphabet as those you know, that’s not very difficult to do. Especially German-English isn’t hard to type. The worst thing might be Umlaute (ä, ö, ü) or the “sharp s” (ß). But that’s about the all of the difficulty there is.
Less convenient, sure. But not very much more effort either.
It still requires some effort. If I was in the mood to invest effort into something I wouldn’t be doom scrolling on Lemmy.
Fair enough. If lazy scrolling > desire to know the translation, I’m doing the same.
