zionism was always an anti socialist / anti communist project. the ‘socialist’ kibutz is as progressive as any settler colony
Several months earlier, Bertha von Suttner had written Czar Nicholas II, an ardent admirer of Die Waffen, Nieder, on Herzl’s behalf. Typically, Herzl not only asked Suttner to use her connections with the Czar, but also instructed her to stress the particular contributions that Zionism could make to a workable solution of Russia’s Jewish Question.

The Zionist movement undoubtedly has a salutary effect in countries with a large proletarian Jewish population.
This is recognized even in Russian government circles. The masses that are so hard pressed by anti-Semitism would probably one and all join the extremist revolutionary parties unless Zionism showed them a hopeful solution of their sufferings.
