    I think liberals are able to hold on because, on occasion, judgements are actually followed. Mohsen Mahdaw was released from custody when a judge ordered it, after all. These little strategic retreats act as a pressure release, to keep people from realizing the courts are not going to save us.

      Democrats have the resouces to fight on multiple fronts. They could pressure on the court side and use unjust and illegal rulings to stoke popular support forntheir own illegal reprisals, which would pressure the Trump admin into either overstepping their support, or continuing to allow the courts to mediate disputes.

      Or they would if they had any sense of strategy whatsoeve

        Well of course, the problem is ideological. The only way courts will have the power to actually stop the administration is if they are backed up by people power. Democrats really believe that courts have inherent powers, like magic, and that their power doesn’t require mass mobilization.
