Example:
Andrew Jackson is probably upset the Native Americans didn’t get fully genocided. Oh and he is pissed he is on the twenty dollar bill because he was the OG federal reserve hater.
I think Karl Marx would be pretty disappointed
Founding fathers would be amazed at the lack of bloodshed their system has made and would probably be like amazed at all the propaganda
I’m sorry, lack of bloodshed?
Andrew Jackson would probably be happy that the US genocide of indigenous people was so extensive and the country was so large. And upset at how many people living there semi-equally weren’t white.
He’d think those things for the few minutes before I shot him.
So you want to get beaten almost to death by him with his cane? (Had to double check I was on Lemmy before using that string of words. I don’t need another misunderstood reddit ban)
I honestly think he would be most disappointed that the White House doesn’t still stink of cheese. And he would probably try to fist fight Trump.
In a way, I think I would like seeing him get dumped on the GOP for a year or two. Of course I am only guessing that he would align himself with that party. Purely for political opportunity, not because his ideology would match theirs per se.
lmao Jackson wasn’t some kind of Uebermensch. He was abusive because his position protected him. A bullet isn’t going to glance off his iron jaw or something.
And he won’t get dumped on by the GOP because I will be gleefully shooting him in the head a few minutes into his reexistence.
Uh, you do know about the guy who tried to shoot him, right?
richard lawrence didn’t have a glock
unless you think jackson was magic or somethingFair enough. But at the same time, Andrew Jackson is dead. So we aren’t really bound to logistics here.
I just find that story funny in a I’m glad that is far in the past kind of way. That and the cheese wheel. And the Gatsby style parties in the White House.
But at the same time, Andrew Jackson is dead. So we aren’t really bound to logistics here. It’s the opposite. He’s dead, so logistics becomes even more important. Do you know how difficult it is to transport corpses long distances legally?
The guy whose two guns misfired and who was actually apprehended by a huge crowd?
Iirc it would be more accurate to say the crowd apprehended Jackson. He nearly beat the guy to death with his cane and the crowd had to stop him.
Well, Navy Lieutenant Thomas Gedney tackled him, and the actual Davy Crockett helped subdue him. This was after Jackson rushed at him in-between the two guns misfiring and hit him with his cane at least a few times.
But seriously I don’t think we talk about the cheese enough.
Iirc it would be more accurate to say the crowd apprehended Jackson. He nearly beat the guy to death with his cane and the crowd had to stop him.
Nope. Jackson was old and feeble and required someone to walk him to and from the funeral. The crowd, including Davey Crockett, restrained the assassin, who was found not guilty because he had incredible delusions. Jackson himself, old and confused, immediately claimed it was the political opposition come to get him and waved his walking stick around trying to hit the already-subdued man.
Jackson was a cruel racist settler colonist who only punched down. He was not personally particularly physically threatening and most of his “deeds” were done after age 45. The idea that Jackson was at all physically imposing is just Americans making things up because they have no respectable history. And those myths became rumors and common knowledge and then get repeated with veneration - e.g. I would suspect your knowledge of the cheese wheel comes, in some way or another, from a West Wing episode.
Don’t worry, I have no love for the guy. He is just an entertaining person from history to learn about. I mean how many people can say they almost permanently damaged the White House with cheese?
Harald Fairhair would probably be amazed at the lack of bloodshed during political discussions.
C.N Annadurai would likely see progress in Tamil Nadu’s social justice efforts. However, he’d keenly observe if true equality and state autonomy are fully realized today. Btw Annadurai not only lived in Tamil Nadu. He ruled the Tamil nadu. He named the Tamil Nadu.
James Connolly and Jim Larkin would be horrified.
