Yesterday the White House announced that it was adding additional tariffs on specific product imports, in addition to the 145% tariffs. Imports from China to the US will be tariffed at rates between 145% and 245%. The highest tariff of 245% was placed on medical syringes and needles. The White House cited “the fentanyl crisis” as a reason for tariffs on China. I’m wondering if Trump thinks that China is selling needles to America exclusively for illicit drugs.

Embargo implies military action and prevents others from trading with them.
No one would go for that and the US doesn’t have the power to enforce an embargo on China while it also postures against Russia and Iran.
As it stands, this is just gonna mean China exports to Europe, then Europe sells to the US at a markup.

Funny you used this particular emoji, because there is already a chicken tax in the US. It is also a tariff, logically applied to light trucks. It is part of why small trucks, like kei trucks, do not exist in the US.
