    is 168 tons a large deposit? i don’t know much about mining but that doesn’t seem like it would be a lot

      ~201,296 tons of gold have been extracted cumulatively throughout human history so this is a significant amount of almost [EDIT 0.1%] of that sum

        Off by an order of magnitude. This amounts to 0.08% of cumulatively extracted gold. Still not small potatoes.

      No, not really. It depends on the grade as well, but as an example, the largest single gold mine in Australia produced 4.2 t of gold in 2019 alone
