I feel like I read somewhere on Hexbear that the form that the decay of empire will take from within the beast’s belly is, like, ideologically incoherent nimrods committing random acts of violence against the ruling class… I wonder how the person who wrote that feels now!
It’s disappointing to find out that this once-enigmatic figure with all the trappings of a folk hero, who had so many people mesmerized for days with his apparent charisma and the catharsis he provided, is… Well, this chump. I almost want to say that this is “not canon”!

The enigma was central to the folk hero aspect. Not having any details on the guy made it easy to project our frustrations onto him. It was kind of inevitable that him becoming an actual person would break the spell.
I’m pretty sure I’ve expressed similar sentiments to this before on here, but I won’t claim to be the originator of it. I’m pretty sure it comes from Christman’s analysis.
I have never believed in any kind of coherent anti-establishment political movement willing to actively commit effective violence coming out of the U.S. any time soon.

The best one could hope for is a movement for separatism from the US (and thus… not really the US…)
Look all I know is that there will be a huge turf war for the UP if stuff starts to break up in the Upper Midwest. And I would bet the lines in the UP will essentially be drawn between Detroit Lions and Green Bay Packer fans, because the culture is very silly up there.
