Brains are often irrational. I have a deep distrust of the electric can opener; I’m always worried it will bite me or something. I have had this irrational fear since I was very young. I have no experience with anyone being harmed by an electric can opener and I’m unaware of any instances of them causing injuries, ever. I know, rationally, that there’s no danger. But fuck that thing.

I almost exclusively run PBTA games nowadays because of this. And if the players are totally inexperienced we’ll run a one-pager like Lasers and Feelings or Honey Heist first.

Rules just bog down the play speed too much unless everyone is an expert, paying attention, AND not drunk, which is basically never.

Isn’t the “Rainbow Six Universe” just, like, the regular world? I haven’t played an R6 game in more than a decade, but I remember the draw being realism.

I’m in a red district in SoCal and my mom, a disability rights advocate and civil rights lawyer, tried to run for office a few times over the last couple of decades. Each time the only thing any of the Democratic Party reps we talked to cared about was how many rich people we knew and how many donations we could gather. Once they recognized she didn’t have connections to money, all support was pulled.

Not to say that people shouldn’t try. But not only do you need the time and ability to run for office, unless you have a LOT of money it’s very difficult to even get a foot in the door.

I recently went back to baby face after more than a decade. It’s mostly an attempt to shame myself into getting rid of the second chin.

I live in San Diego (well, in east county) and it’s particularly a mess here. The geography leads to no real structure, roads just sorta go where they can fit. This and a general lack of public transportation infrastructure means it’s easy to get lost or take forever to get where you’re going. Luckily it’s pretty safe, as cities go. We have a lot of unhoused folks but they’re just here for the weather. I’d rather be stuck downtown somewhere at night than out here in the rural SD area, buncha fuckin white supremacists are my neighbors
