I’m also a developer and I’m really big on optimizing database queries and having the right data indexed. When I review others’ code I’m being “nitpicky” when I point out that an index is missing. When it comes to query optimization I’m often told “well there’s plenty of memory.”

Yeah, the language here seems to fall outside what you or I think of as a clique. To me it essentially just means a group of people but clearly there has to be some other definition.

That Edge connection could’ve been useful if every app and website weren’t loaded with six trillion tracking scripts and 10MB’ worth of JavaScript frameworks.

Personally, I have Reddit completely blocked on my network and the only way to “access” it is to redirect to a Redlib instance. I don’t really care to hear about it anymore.

But you can do all that without selling out your users to third parties.

As a web developer that blocks all this shit, that’s the line I always use. I would just use first-party analytics from the same domain the website is hosted from. The added bonus is that people like me wouldn’t even be able to block it without blocking the entire website (at least with DNS).

This is why I’m such a cunt about blocking this stuff at the DNS and/or IP level. Google Analytics is essentially everywhere including IRS web pages with your Social Security number in the DOM.

It’s crazy because I’m liberal as fuck, totally understand how cursed housing is but I still can’t take this as sarcasm.

I’m fully living on my own despite a horrible public school system, no college education, etc. Hell, I moved to Los Angeles with nothing but a backpack and $800 and no high paying job experience.

At some point you have to figure out your life and move on; sitting around and blaming everyone else for your problems won’t get you anything.
