  • Definitely. It might require significantly more input to gain the same certainty, but all it’s doing is reweighting the possible next tokens before choosing, and code output is still just token output. The rigid syntaxes probably means that the next token probabilities are much more sharply divided (maybe a random sentence the top 1 choice is just 40%, top 3 are 80%, but for a line of code, the top 1 choice might be 90% probability and top 3 hit 99%)

  • My coils are all 6 inches (16 ish cm) and it happens on all my pans, I’ve got an aluminum pan (probably on the order of 4mm thick) with a ‘induction wafer’ added, and a le creuset 12 inch braiser

Sounds like you don’t have that issue though, in that case I would suggest to still go for a relatively cheap non-stick, no non-stick coating can be BIFL. And I like my flat bottom carbon steel wok a lot more on the induction range than I ever did on gas, so consider one of those

  • How big are your induction coils? My stove has unreasonably small (for the price) coils, so my pans all have a cold outer rim because the lateral heat conduction isn’t high enough. If yours are also small, consider getting pans with a bottom that matches the coil size (like a flat bottom wok) rather than a huge 12 inch skillet that’s 40% cold, or at least consider paying extra for higher thermal conductivity (copper?) For your wider pans’ bottom surface

  • Easy, which one has the highest interest rate. If you pay off your hdd now, do you save on loan interest? Then that 1000 is worth more because it’s 1000+ the Interest you now won’t have to pay. Same for savings. My savings rate is ~3.6% APY, so 1000 after a year is 1036, not much extra, but that’s a meal or two.

Or Yolo it into the stock market, and potentially make 20% ($200) on it by next year.

It depends what you think the future holds.

Boring answer is: can you put it in a Roth IRA or other post-tax advantaged account? That’s for if you think the world will be around when you retire.

If you think the price of ram is gonna double again, buy a 64 GB kit of DDR5 now and sell it on Craigslist next year

Or if you believe that memories now are worth more than memories in the future, just spend it on things that make you happy. This is free money, Noone can force you to be responsible

  • There was a big push a few years ago to come up with an alternative to “vegan” to put on packaging, and they came up with “Plant-based” as the euphemism of choice. I don’t recall what the major driver was, it was either from vegans who say veganism entails more than just “don’t put animal products directly into the product” or if it was manufacturers who thought the word “vegan” would scare away normies after decades of bad mouthing.

I saw it coming immediately that plant-based doesn’t mean “vegan but they didn’t bother certifying” but rather that it means “has some part that is mostly plants”, see the Jimmy Dean plant based patty sandwiches.

If it ain’t got that (V) you gotta start deciphering the ingredients list cause those Fulkerson will put in anything
