This is something I will never understand. You want all of the trappings of civilization without being part of it? You want your cake and to eat it too.

They did it during Black Lives Matter. Would cover their faces, remove their badges, and use rental cars to pull people off the street and disappear them. It’s happening now with ICE.

Same reason Truth Social does. A bunch of idiots praying to their master.

Although I love the positivity, this is more a story about Tesla than VW.

My point was more that they will believe they have created a scalpel but it’s actually a cudgel. They aren’t as clever as they think they are and will mess up here.

I have no faith in their AI efforts. They are going to flag so many random accounts.

You already succeeded by noticing and asking this question. People who are old or stubborn in this way were born that way and never grew out of it.

I very much believe that there was a very short period when it first opened when it was all innocent. Then all the edge trolls took over.

The argument is symbolic. He’s still a foreigner and will always look and sound like a foreigner. His Thai friends will consider him part of the community, but he’s just some expat to everyone else.

It seems like every 10 years or so a story like this comes up.

I remember in the 90s there was a case of a teenager who vandalized or put graffiti on a building in some place like Singapore and was sentenced to caning. There was this huge outcry about how cruel it was and such, and I remember (I was in high school) thinking that the guy was an idiot who made how own bed.

Then you get Otto Warmbier who somehow was allowed into North Korea and then decided it was a good idea to rip a post of the country’s founder off the wall.

The lesson? Know where you are. When you’re not in Kansas, then don’t do Kansas things. Consequences are different in different parts of the world. It’s really easy to be a respectful traveler.
