yes, why wouldn’t it be crap? putting effort into the input to feed a probabilistic machine doesn’t suddenly make the output appealing somehow. there is a difference of skill and resulting quality between an artist using a brush and a person using a slop generator. the notion that your slop generator is generating slop because you’re simply prompting it wrong is nonsense.

and quite frankly, whoever thinks that an image generator built on mass scraping others’ creative works pushed forward by the worst of big tech and a paintbrush are equivalent in ethics and quality because they say they’re both “tools” might just be a tool as well.

anubis does its thing by making you waste your cpu cycles and then giving you a cookie, if you use that cookie for subsequent requests then you’re free to browse the site. it might in theory slow down dumb scrapers that don’t save that state and parallelize the mass scraping via multiple ip addresses (since without the cookie they’ll have to solve the challenge for each request) but if one’s making a targeted attack for one specific site, they don’t do any of that. it should be trivial for a bad actor to solve the challenge once and use the cookie, like a regular user would. anubis only slows down scrapers that scrape all sites indiscriminately and don’t expect it, once you know it’s there then it’s easy to bypass (and if you can afford to scrape the entire site you can surely afford to get past anubis once).

i just visited and no, they don’t seem to use it, or at least i could access the site without it. but even if they did, anubis is incapable of defending against targeted scraping.

i use arch because i find it much easier to start from a system with just a tty and install software i need than to have a full distro and to find and remove packages that i don’t want/need and replace them with the ones i need - makes maintenance easy and i know what’s running on my system. it’s also in my experience one of the few rare distros that package a non-broken fcitx5 which i rely on (but that’s specific to my setup). and the build system is awesome. the community might be a bit harsh on people who post error messages to forums without any attempts at basic troubleshooting.

i expect that people who make these memes installed arch because they heard that it’s a bleeding edge distro that all the kool kidz use, downloaded a bunch of packages from the AUR which messed up their dependencies after the update and now their system isn’t booting right. if you don’t skip updates for a long time and don’t do weird tricks with system packages, arch might be genuinely one of the easiest distros once you get past the installation which can be tedious if you’re used to automated installers.

they police that the guy is lying to his wife and having a secret relationship behind her back, and they’re very right to police that. cheating on a person you supposedly love for life is vile and disgusting and the wife has every right to be upset that her husband is secretly pursuing romantic partners behind her back (and judging by the sitting woman’s expression, she likely doesn’t know, so he’s likely hiding his marriage from her too).

is posing with a sign in public and making a scene distasteful? yeah, might be. but it’s nowhere as bad as cheating.

that’s also assuming that the situation is real, which i doubt. but it applies to all cheaters in general regardless of this specific image.

reread what, your comments about how not wanting a partner to cheat on you somehow equals sexual oppression? wouldn’t policing what kind of relationships people are allowed to have (aka what you’re trying to do) be closer to domineering?

honestly i think it’d be nice to have a full p2p video directory instead. something like peertube but without instances, resembling a torrent tracker like nyaa, aimed generally for educational stuff, entertainment, music, etc. basically youtube but as a torrent tracker, to reduce the storage requirement. you’d be able to seed your favorite media and the fact that people would not want to waste their storage on seeding worthless stuff and the technical hurdle of p2p would keep the mindless slop out.

i mean… blocking lists are universal, but the other features ublock offers are not - i’m making heavy use of ublock’s dynamic filtering panel and per-site switches. one important thing i use ublock for is to whitelist which sites get javascript permissions and to get rid of remote fonts to make pages more readable. those features need manifest v2.

if firefox drops manifest v2 and you’re relying purely on those inbuilt blocking lists then you might as well use the manifest v3 version of ublock without seeing a difference, right?

the standard price expectation is how it tricks the customer, if you open a webpage and go pay for something then you expect that the price you’re paying from the same vendor is set the same for everyone (or at least constant for your geographic location to accomodate for purchasing power). pretty much no customer would expect opening the page in another session to offer a better price, which is why they did it this way.

if people knew there’s a better price available, they’d not take the worse deal. and people in general don’t like having tricks pulled on them, especially if they’re meant to gauge how much they can get away with charging you.

or… people could at least try to be accomodating? if there was a horny community, people who are interested would join it and people who aren’t could block it. since we’re apparently not having that, then they should at least use nsfw tags in existing communities. or not evade blocks. what the original commenter proposed is just one solution that makes it easy.

if you block a whole community because of a few bad apples, you’ll also cut yourself off from the majority of posters who post interesting stuff.

this has nothing to do with an office or being opposed to nsfw because i’m opening lemmy in public. some of us just don’t want to be involved with sexual stuff even if no one else is viewing my screen.

i replied to your comment because i don’t agree with your expressed stance that we should let nsfw go unchecked and push away people who don’t like that because they’re apparently prudes. why should the onus be on people like that and not on people who don’t use nsfw tags and evade blocks?

the original commenter’s suggestion up top would mostly solve the issue. you disagreed with it, so i commented to disagree with your comment, and noted that i see this as a consent issue.

also i imagine moving to a sfw-only instance does nothing if the posts aren’t tagged as not sfw. it’s also not my goal. i don’t mind having an option to unblur a nsfw post. but i find it problematic when it’s effectively forced onto the timeline.

isn’t posting untagged nsfw into general/meme communities against respecting consent? some people don’t want sexual stuff on the timeline, yet your solution is that those people are pruders and should leave instead of encouraging nsfw posters to categorize their nsfw media properly.

if the rest of the fediverse can do it then i don’t see why lemmy shouldn’t.

does me sorting by all somehow mean that i need to see untagged nsfw by default? as opposed to nsfw posters learning to tag their posts properly and not evading blocks?

last time i saw that user’s profile, all of the posts were sexual. many of them not even really memes. posts about having intercourse with old men, wearing revealing clothes in the club and so on. i don’t think any of them were tagged, so the user themselves doesn’t care and apparently neither do the mods of the communities wherever it was posted to.

no one’s pushing the nsfw users out, just wanting a mechanism for users who don’t want that stuff in the timeline to filter it out. why should people play whack-a-mole with people who don’t tag their horny posts properly and people who keep remaking accounts every other month?

i find it dissapointing how the nsfw community preaches that consent is key, but at the same time when someone doesn’t consent to being exposed to porn by default then they’re a prude and should make new communities on their own.

the least they could do is tag their nsfw posts as nsfw, which they consistently don’t do.

the bots won looooooong ago, they’ve been faster and more accurate at the captchas for quite a while. there’s even browser plugins that automatically solve the audio captcha.

this is just biometric data collection, because they know that many people will use it if it’s presented to them, especially if it’s less tedious that clicking 15 slowly disappearing traffic lights. the average joe isn’t doing a bypass with a virtual camera.

some investors think it sounds cool so you get a short-term profit before the whole idea falls apart. or something like that.

iOS has their own attestation/anti-tamper api similar to google’s integrity api so that’s going to be used instead. the only difference is that on iOS you’ll need to download extra software specifically for this.

graphene devs said you can do it with their sandboxed version of gms but as far as i know that still involves having an account and handing over all your personal info to google.
