He started a trade war? You mean the thing he said he was going to do on the campaign trail, over and over again? So why would anyone think he would ever be good for the economy!?

It’s the end of Trump’s “First 100 Days.” He’s floated invoking the Insurrection Act and declaring martial law at that time, although I’m also seeing that he’s suggested doing that as soon as the 20th.

He very well could be dead, but I think the primary thing happening here is they want to create the precedent that they can’t bring anyone back from this prison. That way, they can start sending “undesirable” American citizens “by mistake” and then just be able to say “not our problem”.

Oh, believe me, I am in full agreement. This never should have happened, for many, many reasons. I was just attempting to correct what I thought was a factual inaccuracy that does have a material impact on the case.

Just for clarity, he’s not a citizen. He did have a legal protected status which was supposed to allow him to remain here or at the very least not be deported to specifically El Salvador. Still fucked, but just want to get the facts straight.

EDIT I misunderstood, he is a citizen of El Salvador, but not the US. I’d seen people claiming he was a US citizen and wanted to correct that.

School vouchers are actually terrible. They take funding from already struggling schools and give it to private institutions which already don’t have to follow many of the policies outlined above (they can discriminate in a lot of ways that public schools can’t). They also mostly end up being a subsidy for the wealthy.

Small note for the summary: “probationary” in terms of government employees does not necessarily mean new, it means new in that role.

So, someone who has been working for the government for 20 years and was just promoted to a senior position is a probationary employee.

He legitimately might not remember. Someone asked him about calling Zelensky a dictator today and his response was “Did I say that? I can’t believe I said that.” And that was something he said just over a week ago.

Yeah, I’m not declaring victory yet. Celebrate the wins where we get them, but this is far from over. We have successfully thrown some sand in the gears, but there is still a lot of damage that can be done. This coup is ongoing, popular support be damned. He’s not going to stop trying as long as he’s in office.

They’re offended by being called out. Doesn’t matter what it’s about, it’s just the being called out that’s the problem.

I’ve been publicly referring to “President Musk” and “First Man Trump” and hoping it catches on. The more we can make Trump feel like there’s a perception that he’s not in charge, the more it will piss him off, and hopefully cause him to clash with Musk.

I don’t even necessarily want him to fire Musk. I want them to try to do conflicting things, give in to their nature to be contrarian, but with each other.

They want to be David vs Goliath. Being the ones persecuted means that they can go on the offensive without feeling bad about it. It means whatever they do is justified as being a means of survival. It gives them an excuse.

Yep. But Trump doesn’t care about that, he just cares about removing a piece of Obama’s legacy.
