Too high for me is when even at the tallest setting my lawn mower struggles to cut which is probably like 6+ inches as a guess. Usually the first mow in the spring is difficult if I attempt “no mow may”.
I don’t understand how you’d ever be ‘tilling the soil’ unless you don’t know how to adjust your mower height, maybe you could elaborate?
I usually have to mow once a week when we’re not in drought, otherwise the lawn gets too high, but during the heat of summer I don’t have to mow at all because the grass goes dormant.
The damn peppers are stressing me out. Sprout already! Meanwhile the kale and tomatoes sprouted within a couple days.

The tomatoes and peppers each get a 2x2 ft area per plant which works well with the new plant cages I bought last year for the peppers and Roma tomatoes. This year I need to setup metal poles or something for the indeterminate tomatoes since last year’s attempt failed when we had some intense wind storms.
Peppers, tomatoes, and kale seeds have been started indoors. Only the kale has sprouted so far, and the potting medium reintroduced fungus gnats to my house.
Is the height of the lights adjustable or is that what you’re using the bins for to raise the plants instead?
Some sort of pet hair remover?

I don’t know if it differs but when I grew them last year it was when they turned yellow.
Prep some fried green tomatoes! After breading I pop them in the freezer on a tray and then move to a container. When ready to eat you then cook them like normal. I didn’t grow tomatoes that will work well for them this year and I’m bummed. I wish you all the luck in your green tomato adventures.
I’ve slowly been making sauce or salsa (mostly sauce due to jalapeno shortage) in batches of 5-10lbs of Roma tomatoes over the last month. I finally bought a food mill. Happy saucing!
