Folk always seem to underestimate the effect of training and experience. In a match between two unpracticed players, sure, the more analytically inclined of the two will have an edge. This is true of any game with a strategic component. General intelligence helps but specialist knowledge is better.
People also underestimate the danger of the flu. The flu kills people every year, and that’s the mild, endemic one. Only reason it doesn’t kill more is that we vaccinate at risk groups and people at high risk of spreading it. People sometimes call other things the flu, but if you get the real thing you know it.
We’ve avoided several major flu outbreaks because we look for them and take the threat seriously, and frankly, got lucky.
Influenza in the USA does 2x 9/11s a year.
I’m willing to allow that someone could have a change of heart after acquiring wealth, or can control of such wealth through inheritance.
I don’t really care how such a realignment of thinking is achieved though. Be it force, visitation by three spirits, whatever. I guess my point is that as they have the capability to change but don’t, which should inform our actions.
The thing about billionaires it that they could just stop. It’s not a skin colour, it’s not an ethnicity or even a religion.
If they wanted to they could redistribute the wealth. They could use their power to close the political doors they exploit.
Wouldn’t even have to check themselves out, wouldn’t even have to adopt some monastic lifestyle. But they would rather live in a world where they have lifetimes of obscene luxury at the expense of others. At a certain point you have to ask if causing suffering is part of their fun.
And there generally is, most libraries have a catalogue or at least a directory explaining the numbering system at a topic level. Thing is, this sign doesn’t just help people come to the library wanting help with these things. It helps people in the library who are experiencing this and didn’t know they could find a book to help them.
Hell some people don’t even know they need help with these things until someone offers.
I only really associate HP with corporate machines, which they seem to work fine for. Don’t really associate them with the gaming space. Of course them looking at it is probably a sign that the handheld market is about to really open up, which is a good thing I think.
And if they make a good product with neither their corporate bullshit or all the ‘gamer style’ gimmicks I anticipate from folk like Razer or Alienware.
What I’d really like though is something DIY, or at least Framework-like. A man can dream…
Exactly what I am talking about. Plenty of facists in the EU, plenty of non-facists outside the EU. Make your decision based on the politics of the people you are buying from, not what flag they wrap around themselves.
I think the buy EU thing (and for that matter, all this trade war bullshit) is one of those things that claims to be apolitical but is inherently nationalistic and so massively popular with/supported by/in support of the authoritarian right.
One of those salt of saturn political things that lets people pretend they aren’t right-wing.
It more and more seems like it isn’t simply not wanting to believe in the possibility of climate change, but actively trying to be the first over the finish line.
Are we sure they aren’t reptilians? Actually sure?
Or the beginning I suppose. Could be someone gaining their power.
Are we entirely sure it’s not just an ornament? I’ve got all kinds of things that aren’t even ritual objects.
And as AI monsters go, it’s far from the worst. Barely even a monster.
No wonder he was the captain of the Black Perl…
As if they consider women people.
If you think roll20 is bad imagine being friends with 4 guys because they are the only other people who like playing that you know of. Dear god the smell… Kids today don’t know how good they have it.
What, at the youthful age of 69? Kid needs more experience.
Or at least develop chronic backpain.
I’m not local to you (so social conventions might be different) but if the dress code is casual I think as long as you don’t go for a pattern that is actually offensive or anti-corporate you will be fine. Even advice like no bulky yarns sounds like it is rather based on traditional office dress, where you would want something that can be worn under a suit jacket.
One thing I would suggest you take into account is how easy to take it off it will be. You won’t control the thermostat so you might find yourself adding/removing layers to maintain comfort. You might also might find yourself wanting something in the summer too, if the site is air conditioned.
I’d warn against opening the cells if you don’t know how old it is. Modern ones are safe, older ones might contain heavy metals.
