The FMLN having elected a president is one of the most hype things ever, and the disappointing result is heartbreaking. Turns out guerillas turning towards electoralism, even when popular, don’t actually get very far
At first I read that as Admiral Nelson laughing at them. Which is a great image ngl
He can’t keep being this based
Genuinely hopeful sign.
yup. They filmed the massacre, or at least someone did. They made sure only to kill the Hindu civilians. They had people cite the Kalima verses which are important in Southeast Asian Islam, and those who couldn’t got shot. The circumcision check was the other method. I have avoided watching for obvious reasons
“They kept asking everyone ‘Muslim? Muslim?’. Whoever said they were Muslims and even recited Kalma, the terrorists pulled down their pants to check and shot them if they were not circumcised. They were about 15-year-old boys. There were at least four attackers,” he adds.
CPI-ML and CPI(M) are different. This is actually CPI(M) right here that OP is showing. So India had its original CPI which split amidst the Sino-Soviet split, not in a Maoist vs USSR direction, but more over domestic strategy that was exacerbated. The splinter formed CPI Marxists which is now more powerful. From there you have about 30 other regional and national and underground parties. The Naxalites are the illegal CPI - M (Maoists) now mostly, though some of them as well as other communists formed the legal though very militant CPI-ML (Liberation)
India has two major national Communist parties, and like each state has at least one separate one or one that effectively only runs candidates in 2 or 3 states.
I don’t think BRICS matters as much to China as their long term relations to Pakistan. Pakistan is yes often a US outpost, but it is also one of China’s closest military allies.
god the drone heading right at that tank is crazy. I cannot imagine being the guy who you see duck into the tank at the last second. Thinking you are safe in this thing only for it to become a metal coffin.
The flooding apparently caused by India, and the independence forces doing that terror attack in Kashmir (some of which are accused of being Pakistani groups and who for sure checked for circumcisions before choosing who to execute making their sectarianism pretty obvious) make me think this is not going to be some casual fire fighting. Not saying war is about to break out, but relations are for sure breaking down
Well guess some of them did fight, though that was never really in doubt, more the idea that they got sent into Ukraine. Seems like they performed well, would love some actual combat footage, but I can understand why the DPRK would be hesitant to have those released.
Glory to the Korean People’s Army
I love the point the enlightenment dept guys make earlier, that they made a conflict on Ghorman, killed an imperial inspector, and then resolved it. All to push opinion in advance that the Ghorman’s are difficult people.
Holy shit. There are your actual human shields
Katchanovski is a wonderful scholar. Highly recommend his social media as well for anyone here
New? This goes all the way back to one of the earliest “accounts” which is a misconstruing of an early Mormon writing about how he met Cain. Mormons until a decade ago officially held that black people are descended from Cain, and part of that ties into this early story about one of their founders meeting Cain who is effectively a Bigfoot.
Great paper on this that I read a few years ago https://www.jstor.org/stable/23289895?read-now=1&seq=1#page_scan_tab_contents it is actually a really interesting part of how sasquatch lore interweaves with other aspects of american myth-making and of course racism
The conflation of these two legends is a study in the transformation of Mormon culture as reflected in its folklore. Its simplest lesson is that skepticism about the veracity of such tales can be interpreted as declining belief in physical manifestations of supernatural evil. However, the content of Cain stories reflects more subtle changes. The reidentification of Cain as Bigfoot demonstrates how Cain has come to be identified with the mainstream legendary figure; in the process, he is stripped of his spiritual status as an intelligent, malevolent agent of supernatural evil, a presence accepted, and even expected, in nineteenth-century Mormon life. Further, this dehumanization of Cain reflects the weakening grip of the “curse of Cain” folk doctrine that associated him with the stigmatized African race. In these ways the uncoupling of Cain and the demonic is indicative of a larger process of cultural assimilation and transformation
From just a glance at South Sudan news, no. What is happening in Darfur is going to spill out and already has, but it seems South Sudan is having its ceasefire from its civil war unravel. In South Sudan it seems the Nuer White Army is fighting the government again and the vice president, who is in the opposition and was formerly aligned with them, was arrested because of this. Probably just used as an excuse, he has been put under house arrest before. He also condemned the use of Ugandan forces to fight against these new hostilities.
Insane only now a former Colombian president is under trial, and for witness tampering. Like at least it is tied to death squads, but still holy shit
Did CPC-ML run?
