I don’t have an answer to this question, but I will provide my anecdote.

I have a smallish bin inside for all of my recycling. I rinse out of my bottles and cans in water so that the bin doesn’t get stinky. I’m not required to in my area, I just don’t like the smell of stale beer or old beans lurking next to my door.

My process is to just leave any bottles/cans/drinks that are recyclable next to my sink and when I do the dishes, I rinse them all out at the end and put them in the drying rack. the next morning they go to the inside bin. When the inside bin is full, I move that to the outside bin. Not too much effort, and my house smells (relatively) good

While I live in an area that doesn’t have too big a problem with bee populations, I’m excited for my friends who have to manually pollinate their plants and trees by hand

This puts into words what I’ve been feeling more and more over the years. I felt that Reddit had developed some sort of language all its own (thanks for the gold kind stranger, happy cakeday, etc), that felt off to me. On top of that, the sensationalism, and the ever increasing political echo chambers, and then closing the API access to force everyone onto their own app out the final nail in the coffin for me. I’m not off reddit entirely, but I’ve gone read only and only on a computer. Lemmy seems more organic, and genuine to me

My guess, as a cloud developer, there may be a bottleneck at their authentication, or session management. Your web browser has probably been signed in for a while. I’m guessing your app hasn’t been able to get past that point, and is stuck in the bottleneck

At this point when I re-watch Voyager, I tend to skip the episodes that don’t interested my. In my opinion, Voyager has issues with consistency, that I believe comes from fatigue in the formula the series’ in the (80s/90s/00s) used. There are some very high highs (message in a bottle, scorpion, blink of an eye) but equally low lows (threshold, any ireland based holodeck episode. Neelix and Kess stories). So its worth it for the ones you enjoy, but don’t sweat the bad ones - unless you want to watch everything

I’m using the default messages app on my Google phone. The biggest source of my annoyance is every iPhone user adding reactions and such, which act like a new message for me. So any group chat may as well be a fireworks display of sounds and vibrations when it is active. I’ve only set one rule to cool down on messages for 5 minutes and it’s already made an impact.

The app lets me make specific rules for each app, but I don’t see a way to do a rule per group chat, which would be ideal, but this is already an improvement

Nope. I have an android. I just downloaded an app called buzzkill from a recommendation. We’ll see how well it works out for me

I think your last paragraph sums up the reason for my frustration. Most of my family and friends are only chatting via the standard text app for their respective phones, and so I specifically would want to configure those notifications

I imagine it would be “$GroupChatName has new messages…” And can be dismissed the same as any other push notification. Whether or an additional notification comes after that could be configurable

I signed up yesterday. It is close enough to something like old.reddit where I feel comfortable navigating around. I dont know how else to describe it, but it really feels like the site is populated by people creating content organically, and not just a bunch of bots or marketing accounts instigating engagement. Its refreshing that way
