PC Master Race@lemmy.world•Hideo Kojima Comments on Physical Production of Games Ceasing; Fears End of Game OwnershipEnglish
8·2 months agoOh, you mean the same Hideo Kojima who watched Konami/Sony unceremoniously yank his work (P.T.) off consoles a few years ago with next to no notice?
Yeah, that tracks.

Canada@lemmy.ca•PC government officials post photo of Ford Fest crowd that appears to have been edited to make protesters look like supporters
5·2 months agoIn the aerial photo uploaded to X, there is a group of about eight people near the stage, to the centre, wearing purple shirts. As reported by the Star, and other media, there were hundreds of protesters concentrated by the main stage, compared to thousands of Ford Fest attendees sprawled across the park. Near the stage, protesters were among dozens of Ford supporters, including political staff and invited stakeholders. The aerial photo appears to show blue balloons, while a Star reporter observed only purple and pink balloons in the crowd by the main stage.

Canada@lemmy.ca•Ex-CityNews reporter Tina Yazdani is suing Rogers for $650,000
13·2 months ago“For nearly eight years, she reported in the same assertive, accountability-focused manner that CityNews had long encouraged in all their journalists, and at no point was she advised that pursuing politicians for answers was contrary to any Rogers policy,” Yazdani’s claim reads. “At all material times, Ms. Yazdani followed the established editorial process, with her scripts, footage, and story framing being reviewed and approved by producers with full access to the raw materials. Rogers cannot now categorize as misconduct work that its own editorial team vetted and authorized for broadcast.”

politics @lemmy.world•Jeffries says Trump impeachment not a top priority if Dems win House majority
821·4 months agoFYI for anyone in his district: Jeffries has a Democratic primary challenger this June — Vance Bostic, a working-class guy who as far as I can tell hasn’t had a lot of press, but if you live in Brooklyn and are a registered Democrat it’s probably worth checking him out.
I mostly use it to monitor individual feeds for chatty, talkradio-esque mp3 files that I then download and play from my personal devices. I’ve taken to calling them “podcasts” ;)

Technology@lemmy.world•How Microsoft Vaporized a Trillion DollarsEnglish
911·5 months agoOy. Sadly, I suspect anybody who has worked in dev knows the outlines of this story: Management promising deliverables with unrealistic timelines and functionality; team leads with such poor internal product knowledge they don’t recognize catastrophic issues until it’s too late; poorly-trained devs squeezed to push out unscalable kludgy insecure nightmares “for now” that just never get addressed; systems gradually becoming a Jenga tower of manual workarounds and undocumented slapdash quick fixes… Ugh. Nightmare fuel.

Fascinated at how many Wall Street bros will just unironically give their companies names that are so blatantly villainous to anyone with an iota of cultural competency. Weyland-Yutani next?

News@lemmy.world•Trump fires Kristi Noem as DHS chief, names Sen. Markwayne Mullin to replace her
3·6 months agoThis “Shield of the Americas” thing that apparently the very NOT FIRED please don’t tell people i was fired-Noem is being shunted into is gonna be just another Greenland-esque bullshit attempt to push and bully every sovereign nation across two continents. And with her involved, everybody brace yourself because it’s gonna get stupider, more insulting, and more aggressive. Like yeah, better get this woman involved in international diplomacy because she and her boyfriend/side piece did such a fucking normal job of domestic affairs… ಠ_ಠ

Technology@lemmy.world•Wikipedia blacklists Archive.today, starts removing 695,000 archive linksEnglish
81·6 months agoI do hope this move results in more support for the IA/Wayback Machine and helps them to update some of their crawler tech — thanks to the rise of AI, some sites are effectively (thru captchas etc.) or actively (through straight-up greed [coughRedditcough]) blocked from being archived almost entirely, which is frustrating for legit archivists/contributors.

World News@lemmy.world•Major European allies decline to join first meeting of Trump’s Board of PeaceEnglish
6·6 months agoWHERE does this motherfucker get off?? What kind of lunatic still has the audacity to claim some right to head a Board of PEACE when 75% of the headlines I’ve read today said he’s been gasping, sweating and salivating in anticipation of getting to start yet another idiotic middle east war, this time with Iran, of all places…

28·6 months agolibertarian city-states to “restore Western Civilization.”
These grasping neo-feudalist motherfuckers need a boot lodged somewhere dark and moist. And despite his delusions of being some kind of master of the universe, someone needs to break it to Thiel he ain’t the incarnation of Moore’s Ozymandias, despite the fact he clearly thinks dollars = ‘smart boy points’ that automatically confer genius on any topic his greasy, Zippy-the-Pinhead-esque noggin puts its mind to.

Fuck AI@lemmy.world•Everything's fine. Nothing to see here.
32·6 months agoHonestly, I was leaning toward “funny but probably fake” myself until I checked out OP’s post history, which mentions “startups” and namedrops a few SaaS tools used heavily in marketing. If you’ve worked with marketers (or a fair few startup bros, honestly), you’ll know this isn’t beyond the bounds of reason for some of them 😂
