  • I am also worried about our agriculture… it is difficult to farm here which makes us already one of the least self sufficient countries in terms of farmed goods and joining eu without any allowance for protectionism here would destroy what we have. Given the focus on preparedness for war and resilience these days that would in my opinion be a horrible idea.

edit: but we need a public debate to get some clarity in these issues asap and i am glad it looks like we are headed towards that. But i am also afraid of russian propaganda poisoning that debate and populist parties like sp and frp falling prey to that and driving a wedge in the population

  • Without getting all the references we at least found lower decks to stand very well on its own. Will rewatch once ive seen all of the tng-era shows as i think you obviously get more out of it if you also get the references, but my point was just that its not a prerequisite to enjoy it.

Im only about 4 episodes into s02 of tng so far. I was just expecting s01 and s02 to really suck based on discussions and recommendations to skip straight to s03. But ive had a good time so far and now i am really looking forward to s03 if it is so much better.

  • Just chiming in that lower decks was what really set the snowball running for me (having before only seen first three seaons of disco, first season of picard, some of the tng movies ages ago and the chris pine movies). Even if you dont catch all the references, lower decks is a very enjoyable series and i plan to rewatch it after having seen the other stuff. Did snw first after lower decks and liked that a lot, and currently doing tng and enjoying that a lot.

  • TNG is best to start after season 1. Not saying season one is bad, but it might be harder to get into for a new comer.

i think i am now prepared for what to come and will try to also watch season 1 but with the mindset that i can skip bad episodes.

I still think that lower decks and strange new worlds can not be fully enjoyed without some other older trek shown under your belt, but it’s only a few episodes so you can finish them both quickly.

getting much enjoyment out of lower decks now, but i can obviously tell there are many references i dont quite pick up on. If i end up watching it all, i will definitely go back and rewatch lower decks. Good point about few episodes, as i think i will try to squeeze in snw before i start tng-era.

  • hehe i at least assumed the more comedic aspects does not fit into the true star trek lore :p I think i have settled on starting from TNG and moving onto DS9 from there. Still considering SNW first since its not that many episodes.

be prepared for sudden urges for Rick Berman to “accidentally fall out an airlock”, if you know what I mean.

not really but it sounds like some soviet putin stuff!
