I can’t tell if maybe you’re joking, but is there another way to pronounce decal? I could in theory imagine someone saying it like “dick-al” but that seems unlikely.

American here, I can’t speak for Canada, but I don’t think I’ve ever heard any Americans in the US in real conversations say it differently than it is in Star Trek.
I’ve lived in nearly every major region of the US, so if there’s a place where they still pronounce it like “dah-ta” it must be a very small regional thing. Normal working class people having actual conversions everywhere I’ve ever been say “day-ta”.
I’ve read before that Patrick Stewart is the reason for that changing, but I don’t know if that’s true. Seems like an outsized influence for one guy to have on culture, but maybe!
Is this real? It looks AI generated, and really lazily so. The dude’s hands disappear under his face sometimes, and other times his whole face flickers away.
Creation of the Gods was awesome, IMO.
According to Wikipedia, it’s “the most ambitious and expensive Chinese production ever made.” If you like epic fantasy like LotR or GoT, then you should definitely give this movie a try.
The second in the trilogy came out in January, but I haven’t had time to watch yet. Looking forward to it though!
Basically everything I can recall being told in D.A.R.E program classes (war on drugs era propaganda taught in public schools in the USA) was utter nonsense and fabricated bullshit. After actually having personal experience with most of the substances they vilified, none of the effects - good or ill - are what I was taught in that ridiculous program.
On the contrary, some of the fear tactics they used made me curious to investigate on my own. The breathlessly scared rural teacher describing the mind bending effects that “magic mushrooms” was supposed to have sounded fascinating to teenage me. In reality, they are very fun and therapeutic to use, but nothing like the wild Alice in Wonderland mind journey they made it sound like it would be.
Humans also carry diseases and destroy the landscape and each other. By your logic, we shouldn’t care about anyone dying, or try to empathize with anything outside of ourselves. Seems like a sad perspective, IMO.
The “risk” that the executives will become working class and have to get a normal job. The horror!
Wow this is amazing, that music is perfect for it. The shots of the Enterprise heading into the cloud while accompanied by this score felt so exploratory and awe inspiring. I don’t think I’ve ever been brought to tears by the original score in that movie, but this one did it.
Good question… it’s not on my playlist but it’s probably actually cozy. I just don’t tend to watch that one often because it makes me feel sad.
My top 3 favorite cozy episodes are Data’s Day, Déjà Q, and Manhunt. Horny Lwaxana is an inspiration; her reactions to her daughter’s slut shaming comments are so priceless to me.
Yeah, I often fall asleep to a TNG playlist where I’ve selected all the most cozy episodes (e.g., no Borg or “4 lights!” because those are amazing but stressful) but being jolted wide awake by that jarringly loud intro music is less fun than nodding off to Picard romancing Lwaxana with Shakespeare quotes.
I fucking hate it, but there are items which I used to buy at the local grocery before the pandemic which are no longer available anywhere except… Amazon Fresh. So, if I want to have the food that I want to eat, I have to buy it from Amazon and have it delivered (either to my house, or to a Whole Foods which then requires driving to pick it up and spending the extra fuel anyway, so might as well get it delivered all the way without the extra stop). I can’t even find a way to buy and ship directly from the manufacturers, I’ve tried and they generally don’t sell to individuals.
The grocery situation in the US was already depressing as fuck before Amazon monopolized a bunch of products; every grocery chain is owned by one of like 5 giant corporations, and they just rename the stores in different regions so people don’t notice and think they are able to “shop around”.
Wasn’t that the Loki show, where all of time is run by a boring dystopian corporate bureaucracy?
Now that I think of it, I guess you’re right, that show probably did do better than Black Adam.
Vortex seems to work fine using Lutris now. I’m not sure when it changed, but at some point recently I figured I’d give it a shot again and just downloaded and ran their installer exe and it worked.
There’s no more funny malware.
That depends who gets infected.
You or me infected by malware? No thanks!
Egon Mark infected by malware? Absolute hilarity!
I’m not sure what else they would need to do. You can just install Plex or Jellyfin on your Steamdeck right now, and you’ve got yourself an HTPC. It works great!
What are the missing pieces you’re still looking for?
No, we have other better options, but liberals will refuse to vote for anyone who they haven’t had led to them by the DNC establishment, and then act like everyone else is enabling fascism by suggesting actual leftist leadership.
I feel like that’s just a longer way of saying “they all do it, so why bother mentioning it”, which is a lot more defeatist than I think we ought to be. Pointing out anti-consumer behavior is worthwhile for more than merely a simple dig.
that’s generally how computers work though? Updated OS is more resource intensive and require upgrades
That’s not how computers work unless you have an OS that intentionally creates that situation. Devices with Linux on them don’t get any slower over the years. Sometimes an old device even gets faster with OS updates because the OS isn’t being written by a corporation intent on driving you to new purchases incessantly.
Capitalism removed!
I wish capitalism was removed.
Calm down Nancy Drew, what difference does any of this make? So what if it’s actually two people who are dating or not? Go apply your dubious detective skills towards something useful if you aren’t going to answer their questions.
