Nvidia RTX: what are matte surfaces?
Nvidia RTX: what are matte surfaces?
I haven’t used those. But KDE Plasma is also similar, so I guess, yes.
That’s actually crazy to me. There must be some untold personal reason.
Yeah, cinnamon has a windows-like taskbar, startmenu and icon tray.
I first read about this story in Fooled by randomness.
Oh I remember those! I think minecarts can still do something like that, when you stack multiple into the same spot and remove the rails; they just push each other until something disturbs them.
Furnace minecarts are so useless, the best usecase for them I saw was putting them in the ground where the top sticks out as a decoration.
Life is just a big design pattern. ☕︎☕︎
Having no package manager be like:
DPI scaling of the regular steam GUI can also be wonky if you have different monitors. For example, I mainly use steam on my lower DPI secondary monitor, but it wanted to scale based on my 4k main one. Could be fixed with an override though.
Hey, don’t forget the addiction and self esteem issues. Social media does much more!
That still only deals with zoonotic pathogens. Another mayor problem is the non-metabolized (more than half of ingested) anitbiotics that we flush down and don’t filter out.

There is some bliss in having a universal personal pronoun w/o grammatical genders whatsoever (ő) in a languange (hungarian). Often you can even omit it altogether from a sentence.
But let’s not mention the many cases…
Hmm, yeah, AI never really did think. I can’t argue with that.
It’s really strange now if I mentally zoom out a bit, that we have machines that are better at languange based reasoning than logic based (like math or coding).
For all the flak they (rightfully!) get, a 1st party open source nvidia driver is in the works.
Altough it’s only the userspace part and it’s not compliant (yet?) to be upstreamed into the kernel. It is still something.
Well, math is not really a language problem, so it’s understandable LLMs struggle with it more.
Most recruiters have no idea what they are recruiting for. It’s like a game of telephone, by the time the job description reaches you, it has gone through so much dressing and corparatification it either describes a whole IT deparment or nothing specific at all.
Getting hired needs an entirely different set of skill than whatever job you will do. Well except maybe if it’s marketing, because the whole process seems like a song and dance where you need to sell yourself.
If you look at nvidia’s presentation, the next “big thing” is robotics and related software. Well, it’s kind of obvious, you can only do so much with just software (AI) even if it works as best as it can, it is bound to the digital world.
If getting LLM’s (alignment, accuracy etc.) right was challenging, then the same on top of dynamic 3D environments will result in an even bigger shit show.
