Ich hab nach meinem Fachinformatiker als Pixelschubser mit 2000 Brutto angefangen. Das ist zugegebenermaßen schon eine Weile her, aber ich habe es genau so erlebt - bleibst du in deiner Firma, ist der Aufstieg schwierig (je nach Firma, es gibt Ausnahmen). Wechselst du hingegen und nimmst hinzugewonnene Erfahrungen und Skills in deinen neuen Job mit, kannst du ganz schöne Sprünge machen.

Noch einfacher: Kündigen. Ich habe in den letzten zehn Jahren sechs Mal den Job gewechselt. Ergebnis bisher: 325% Gehaltssteigerung.

Klar, das stimmt. Aber es wird immer schwerer, den Sprung zu wagen. Deshalb meine ich halt - lernt aus meinem Fehler, seid das, was ihr sein wollt, alles andere ist Zeitverschwendung. Man lebt nur einmal.

Ich kann euch nur beglückwunschen und darin bestärken, euren Weg konsequent zu gehen. Sonst endet ihr wie ich, knapp 50, in ner Ehe, unglücklich, nie den Mut gehabt, den richtigen Weg einzuschlagen. Bei jedem Blick in meine Vergangenheit durchzuckt es mich mit dem Gefühl verpasster Chancen. Und nein, ich brauch kein Mitleid oder will hier Sympathie, bin ja selber schuld. Macht es einfach besser als ich, darum geht’s mir.

Citing a study about science in the USA, a very religious country, as if that in any way reflected the world of science as a whole… well, okay then.

Even if the judiciary system in your country doesn’t do its work, people taking justice in their own hands is a fundamentally bad thing for a society. I don’t pity predators if they get what they deserve, but I pity the society that suddenly has to define boundaries - where do you draw the line? Not all cases are clear cut. Not everyone operates on the same set of morals.

Example: Religious zealots really do believe that abortions kill children. If society doesn’t categorically forbid people to take justice into their own hands but goes “well, in this case, we can all understand”, you will have other people acting in ways they perceive as equally justifiable. And then abortion doctors get murdered.

The users who downvoted me don’t seem to have this understanding, they would rather have revenge. If you people don’t understand that self-justice will ultimately lead to a more violent society, then go ahead, downvote me again. You’re the reason your country isn’t a more civilized place, wherever you live.

Religion has no reason to argue with science,

Well, that sounds good on paper. It would be nice if over the centuries, religion wouldn’t have ceaselessly attacked and persecuted scientists. If religion was “only philosophy”, there wouldn’t be so many religious zealots not only denying but actively trying to ban the teaching of evolution at schools. Nope… religion is anti-science. It has to be, because science is the one thing that has gradually taken away religion’s authority over the minds of people. Religion is a mind virus, science is the cure.

Is that really the only problem you see with people taking justice into their own hands? Less oversight?

I bought a bottle of Rabbit Hole Dareringer before Trump got elected. Very decent stuff. But now I’m boycotting bourbon until America comes to its senses.
